Onkyo has three new THX certified AV Receivers
Jun 6th 2010 7:33AM (Engadget HD)Wii2HDMI does what its name indicates -- no more, no less
Jun 2nd 2010 8:19AM (Engadget HD)1) Most obvious reason is less clutter (vs component cables)
2) Setups that run a very long video cable that may be prone to interference and signal degration. This where a digital connection would come in handy.
One feature they could have added would be an upscaler function that will upscale the 480p to either 720p or 1080p, which COULD improve quality on an HDTV if the HDTV does not already have a good quality scaler chip on it. Though I think if they did add an upscaler chip to the Wii2HDMI, that the price of the unit would almost double.

May 8th 2010 9:17AM (Engadget HD)If you're listening to same bass heavy music and ever wonder why certain low frequences sound a little louder than other low frequencies in your room, then you probably need a bass trap.
NewSight's 70-inch 3DTV keeps the glasses away with its parallax barrier tech
Apr 19th 2010 7:32PM (Engadget)From what little I can tell about the technology, it looks like the same thing, except with a video playing in the back instead of a print.
Netflix shipping out PS3 instant streaming discs!
Nov 6th 2009 2:07PM (Engadget HD)Netflix shipping out PS3 instant streaming discs!
Nov 6th 2009 10:35AM (Engadget HD)Ive streaming it at home, at work, and gave it out to a couple friends as well. I have a 1 disc plan, which allows for 5 devices to be registered, but only 2 can be streaming at a time. The higher the disc plan, the more you can stream at a time.
There is no risk involved in allowing friends to use streaming as long as you trust them. The only thing you need to worry about is allowing too many friends to use it at once which can become an inconvenience. If all the stream slots are filled, you will simply get a message saying that you can't watch it. It won't kick the other watcher off or anything.
If you have too many devices registered, it will tell you that you need to deactivate one of the devices before you can activate the current device. Sometimes your friends may register multiple devices and may deactivate one of yours in the process which can be annoying. You just gotta trust who you let use it. Basically you just need to keep tabs on 1) how many people are using it and 2) how many devices in total are going to be used.
Another thing is be sure to ask your buddy not to rate any movies because that screws up your custom ratings and recommendations. and of course (if using on it on a computer) you gotta tell them not to mess with your account settings (such as the page that changes your disc plans)

Aug 11th 2009 1:04PM (Engadget HD)The 807, on the other hand, weighs 38 lbs. I haven't seen any testing on it since it is still new.
Onkyo TX-NR807 and TX-SR707 receivers keep the updates rolling
Aug 11th 2009 10:42AM (Engadget HD)And yeah, i wished my 805 had more HDMI inputs as well. After hooking up the xbox360, ps3, and my computer, I'm all out of ports. If I ever get a standalone bluray player or HD sat receiver, i would have to use the component connections.
