Microsoft's Red Ring warranty conference call transcribed

Jul 7th 2007 7:05PM (Joystiq)
For the record, I am on my 2nd 360, 2nd PSP (the first one died within the first week), and my 3rd PS2.

Guitar Hero II to have Original's tracks on Marketplace

Jan 23rd 2007 3:13AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I bet they have licensing issues with getting all the songs on the 360. they have to figure out paying whoever the right amount for each song. Since guitar hero is a hit now and not some unknown game when the first one was made, I bet they want a bigger piece of pie, too. Damn lawyers, I bet they screw this up.

Jack Thompson and Utah AG have spat

Jan 20th 2007 6:16PM (Joystiq)
Am I the only one who thinks this guy could be a good replacement for Doug Lowenstein at the ESA? He clearly understands the issues, and I bet he has connections, and he is not afraid of JT.

Silent Bob wants to be in a video game

Kevin Smith needs to get on the horn with Telltale games and make a proper adventure game. There the dialogue and story could shine. Lets go episodic, too. I mean why not. I think that would be the best route to go.

Analyzing the press' Second Life obsession

Dec 13th 2006 5:01PM (Joystiq)
Ok, I "play" SL and there is a lot more to it than deviant sex, and all the sex stuff is easy to avoid. If you don't find something you like, then you can make it. That's the good thing about SL. It is also its downfall. Since all the content is user created, users create some pretty crappy looking stuff. There is also some great looking stuff in it. I think the biggest misconception about SL is that it is a game. It's not. It's more of a glorified chat room. The potential for SL is what intrigues the press. As more skilled people come to SL, more quality content will be created.

Sony ignored among 2006 Spike TV major awards winners

Dec 9th 2006 1:41PM (Joystiq)
Not only was Sony ignored, but look for EA games on there. I only see Burnout. Of course, I doubt that will raise any eyebrows.

UT 2007 screenshots are unreal

Dec 7th 2006 4:29PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I know its not confirmed, and this is just a hope, but how cool would it be if it had Live Anywhere support. Maybe that is why they are holding off announcing it. I would love to be able to get on and play against my PC brethren. Of course my ass would get handed to me by the mouse and keyboard users, but at least THAT debate would be settled.

Weekend console sales winner, Xbox 360?

Nov 22nd 2006 3:29AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Hmm, makes some sense. I was at Best Buy Saturday night looking for DOAX2, and saw two people picking up 360s right then within 10 minutes of each other. They didn't have DOAX2. Now, I wonder how well the DS sold compared to the 360. I bought one of those, since I couldn't get DOAX2.

Anything goes (so long proprietary peripherals) (PS3 delight #002)

Nov 20th 2006 11:28AM (Joystiq)
The 360 may not let you use a USB headset, but almost any cell phone headset will plug right into the controller. Any USB keyboard will also work for what few things you can use a keyboard for. I would hate using a USB headset with my system anyway. I don't need a long cord connecting me to the system, when I can use my cell phone headset connected directly to my controller.
