Original Xbox controller may return for Halo Anniversary demos

Jun 16th 2011 12:41AM (Joystiq)
I actually liked that controller a lot. It played almost like an arcade stick where I'd use one finger per row of buttons + pinky or ring finger on the trigger.

Riot Games counter-files for DotA trademark

Aug 19th 2010 1:59AM (Joystiq)
@NutMan

Point one is correct but two is completely false. DotA was the most played custom game in RoC back when Eul was updating it. I played it heavily while Kegsta and Sesshoumaru were in charge.

When TFT was released the triggers didn't work properly, to play true DotA you had to load up RoC (which reduced its popularity drastically).

DotA was far superior to the crappy clones in TFT (one of them being Allstars) - the problem with the clones is that they removed all the team aspects and just inflated the power of the items (which were kept in check in DotA to keep things balanced).

The most enjoyable part of DotA was playing the healer (which no one did 'cause they sucked on their own) and teleporting in / healing an ally and forcing the enemy back. That and the Aquasoul stat boosting / mirror image tower cheesing.

DotA developers voice concern over Valve's 'DOTA' trademark

Aug 16th 2010 11:22AM (Joystiq)
F Guinsoo and his crappy Allstar mod, the community complained when he named his ripoff DotA and gave no credit to Eul.

Defense of the Ancients was 1000x better than Allstars, only problem is they were never able to port it to TFT

Blizzard: StarCraft II beta due this month

Feb 10th 2010 7:56PM (Joystiq)
I hope this game gets (pirated/cracked?) like the Warcraft 3 beta did.

I wasn't too interested in the Warcraft 3 beta (I loved Warcraft 2 but that was like 5+ years before) but my college roommate was playing it. He got me hooked up with the private servers and whatnot and we ended up playing it a ton. Went from no interest in the game to preordering the collector's edition.

Bayonetta PS3 patch adds hard drive installation option

Jan 27th 2010 10:17AM (Joystiq)
The only problem I even noticed with AC2 on PS3 was when the levels get "built" it slows down and takes forever. I don't remember seeing any tearing.

Now for Bayonetta, the 360 version looks significantly better than the (PS3 demo). The demo was pretty bad and after reading reviews I picked it up for 360 instead - I'm assuming the full game is basically the same as the demo in terms of quality.

Eyes-on: Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles

Nov 11th 2009 2:53PM (Joystiq)
Thats the Warcraft 3 misquote (or something similar to it). The proper is "My eyes, the goggles do nothing!"

I know this because I changed my Windows critical error beep to that sound clip.

Star Trek Season 3 Blu-ray includes Star Trek Online bonus costume

Sep 28th 2009 6:01PM (Joystiq)
They're like $70 a season, it'll run you around $210 for the complete original series. The bonus features are nice but the S2 extra bonus was terrible (2 crappy cards for the Star Trek monopoly game). S1's bonus was a "free" Sulu action figure (+tons of S/H).

BTW, S1 Blu-Ray is basically identical to S1 HD-DVD (which was the reason I bought the 360 HD-DVD add on).

Pre-orders for S3 aren't up yet.

Final Fantasy VII hitting PSN today

VII marked the point where I begin hating the Final Fantasy franchise.
