I already own a PS3 since launch so I'll be fine. What I was mostly concerned about was the MPEG2 vs VC-1 argument.

Back to the original topic, I think what will be interesting to see is the impact the WB announcement will have on the format war and, if HD-DVD really goes the way of the Betamax, on the console war. I know quite a few people about to buy a PS3 just because of its Blu-Ray capabilities.
I have mixed feeling about Sony shoving an unproven format down everyone's throats, but it looks like they weren't all that crazy in doing so after all...

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone know which one of the two is the best format quality wise? I heard HD-DVD films generally look better because of the fact they use VC-1 encoding by default, but that's something that is supported by Blu-Ray as well.
Can anyone shed some light on this, and possibly provide any links? Cheers guys.

There is a simple reason why Rockstar and others don't develop games for the DS: it just isn't powerful enough. That's not to say it's not good... it's just aimed at a different demographic, and it works well with 2d games, which is something Rockstar doesn't really do anymore.

Keep in mind this version has 2 player co-op over Live. That alone is the reason why I'm buying this version.

I should have been a bit more specific: the 360 is doing great over here in UK and it's doing quite badly in the rest of Europe.

Well, according to VGChartz the PS3 has actually been outselling the 360 in PAL territories since about mid-October. The 360 appears to be doing well only in UK of the European territories.
Amazing what brand loyalty can accomplish.

Sounds like Microsoft is trying too hard to put itself on the same level as Nintendo with this.
It's also quite weird for them to say that, since they've been constantly outsold by PS3 in Europe since the end of October...

That might have something to do with the fact that the original DS was an atrocity :)

Kinda disappointing. Yes, they have the best line up, but most of the stuff they showed was showed last E3 already, and I was expecting them to announce more of the new stuff. Also, I'm sick and tired of all this much milking of the Halo franchise. I want my hour and an half back please.

Here's hoping that Sony or Nintendo will do better than this.
