Microsoft promises new Kinect games at Tokyo Game Show

You won't even get that. At least, the wiimote has a bunch of buttons to do stuff with.

@Wiizer

It's true that it's starting to look like Kinect isn't much more than a very expensive eye-toy with voice recognition and a huge marketing push.

It probably wouldn't have the necessary precision to be used for something like a head tracker in a racing game, or recognize hand gestures in a squad-based military game. And I can't imagine that many somewhat imprecise things I'd rather do by waving my hands in a serious game, than by pressing a button or moving a stick.

Is anyone else looking forward to Microsoft stopping pushing "controller-free" games and starting to talk about controller-based games that also use Kinect for some of the functionality?

There's only so much you can do in a game without using buttons, but combine the potential of Kinect with the precision of using an actual controller, and you might have a winner.

As long as MS keeps focusing on hand-waving shovelware, I just can't get interested...

Rock Band 3 details: RB2 export confirmed for all consoles, 'pro' mode DLC may be more expensive

MS includes a data transfer kit when you buy a larger drive (at least, they used to). You can also buy the kit separately if you need it after buying a new xbox with a larger drive.

Crackdown 2 'Toy Box' DLC crashing issues resolved by reissue

This highlights a problem with Live: there's no update mechanism for DLC. Whenever something goes wrong with a DLC package (as is unavoidable from time to time) they have to ask people to delete their downloads and redownload.

Hands-on with the new Xbox 360 controller with transforming D-pad

@VIDEOGAMES

Sure, except that I've never bought a play-and-charge kit and don't want one, so forcing me to pay for it if I want the new controller isn't very nice.

I was looking at the new all-black shiny controllers at the store yesterday (which still use the old d-pad), and they all came bundled with play-and-charge kits. Is that the way all MS controllers will be sold from now on?

Why do I always appear as "(Unverified)" since the site upgrade, and what do I have to do to get... verified?

@embassy

Agreed, and it looks pretty much like typical Halo multiplayer, with a few new tweaks. With a good bunch of players, Halo multiplayer can be a ton of fun. The trick is to get a good bunch of players...

Pause to 'Remember' this Halo: Reach live-action short

I like how the flight schedule board at the space port looks just like an in-game Halo score board.

Halo: Reach campaign co-op matchmaking confirmed

Aug 23rd 2010 5:06PM (Joystiq)
Cool news for those who are into it but I can't imagine ever wanting to play campaign mode, in any game, with random strangers. Still, having the option there can't hurt.

I guess this is a side-effect of adding match-making to the Firefight mode, which was implemented in ODST out of the campaign mode. Adding matchmaking there probably brought it for free to all modes.
