European PlayStation Plus subscribers get free LittleBigPlanet [update]

Jun 23rd 2010 3:30PM (Joystiq)
@patboy2008 Hell no we don't.
We are still missing huge numbers of games that are in US and JP stores.

The main reason being that the EU is made up of loads of countries that speak languages not English.
The UK is majority English. Why can't we get all the stuff that ends up in the US store?
So many games don't even make it to the EU for a long time just because of the large number of languages.
It is frustrating as hell that the UKs releases are held back by this. I think gaming is the only media still stuck in this stupid state.

You'd think SCEE would be smart enough to create a section that allows releases in the English available to people in the UK.
Or, better yet, you'd think Sony in general wouldn't be complete idiots and just allow ANYONE download ANYTHING, regardless of country! People aren't stuck to one language! You'd think a multinational company would realize this.
So much for regionless media...

Sony: PSP Go 'experiment' revealed consumers' love of physical media

Jun 8th 2010 4:59PM (Joystiq)
Thank god for that.

Now, PSP 2, E3, go go go.
2 sticks, usual control system, memory card media storage / digital downloads.
Also, 3g/4g support. (sell externally as an expansion so it isn't outdated in a year or 2... wait, who am i kidding?)
'Kay, a little optimistic, but still...

Make it a less crappier modification of the PSP Go style.
Mainly being the work on the control position, that left stick in their is just awkward.
And get rid of the silly curves.
DS, iPhones, iPods and countless others have a more blocky design and they are all still popular.
Wasting time and money designing curvy hardware is just inefficient.
People just want something that works and looks decent enough. PSP with gloss and less curves would be entirely acceptable. The curves add nothing to it, it is all looks, all they do is remove usable space and over-complicate the fabrication process.

I've always been a fan over function over looks. And PSP is failing in that respect, especially because they are keeping the PSN store locked down.
I would KILL for applications on PSP and PS3. As would the other several odd million people, especially those who use them as their actual "computer". (more-so with PS3 than PSP)
Considering how they killed off Linux, this would at least perhaps make more people a little happier. (especially if the kept the price down)
PSP badly needs some sort of application store. There has already been a bunch of applications sold on UMD, from maps to translators, so i really don't see why they are keeping it locked down, it is madness. The iPhone and Android store are proof that applications on handhelds do work.
I'd love a nice note taker as well, building one that used the web browser was *painful*.
Oh, on that note, GET RID OF NETFRONT BROWSER. PLEASE.
Anyway, went off on a bit of a tangent there

Uncharted 2's cinematic properties parodied in PS3 commercial

My god that ODST ad was hilarious.
Autoplay on it played back the Microsoft's Vision of the Future video too, absolutely hilarious.

Lose/Lose game deletes files as you play

I only wish that WAS the point of the game.
Survive as long as you can and resist temptation to shoot any ships.
Longer you survive, larger your score.

EXTREME MODE
I guess to fit in with the whole Lose/Lose thing, the higher your score, it will create a file with bits created from a your score to the power of itself.
Even a score of 10 creates a huge number, and a huge file of course.
Score goes up by 1 every 2 seconds.

Maybe this could be the sequel, Lose/Lose/Lose

Sony attacks BBC Watchdog's PS3 hardware failure report

Sep 17th 2009 10:35PM (Joystiq)
Please do complain about this
http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/homepage/

Even more so if you are actually living in the UK and paying the license fee to RUN this show.
The show was horribly biased, and it even had a die-hard xbox fanboy to cause drama.
The only thing they had that was decent was the guys actually repairing the consoles, good on them.

But this was bordering very close on slander, if not ON it.
And slander is a very serious thing. I will be surprised if Sony don't sue for this.

Sony attacks BBC Watchdog's PS3 hardware failure report

Sep 17th 2009 10:12PM (Joystiq)
@Loki

Well, you can file a complaint with them.
They do take complaints pretty seriously.

Where is Nintendo in this? There has been failures there.
And god forbid me from saying it, 360?
How about your average PC gamer? PCs screw up all the god damn time and you don't see them moaning over it.

The number of failures for PS3 is tiny and is well in line with the average failure of any product or service.

To be honest, the only thing that I really do hate about Sony and repairs is if my PS3 died right now, it will be replaced with a severely limited version of what i originally had. (mines was an original)

Also, how do Sony react to a person who has tried to fix their own console out of warranty anyway?

Sequel to the All-time hit, "Cube"?

Sony patents software-based PS2 CPU emulation

Jun 30th 2009 8:55AM (Joystiq)
@deanb

What confuses me even more is why they don't message Sony about it and at least offer help, for money.
Sony have said previously that they would pay for an emulator if anyone made one. It was low priority for them to build one.
