THQ no longer manufacturing uDraw hardware

Far weaker than anticipated? who in their right minds thought this was actually going to sell??

(of course, watch me eat my words when Nintendo gets it right with the Wii U)

Nintendo: 3DS sales prove there's still room for dedicated gaming handhelds

Jan 27th 2012 10:39AM (Joystiq)
I think Nintendo painted themselves into a corner with their "casual" philosophy. With the DS, they got plenty of sales catering to the non-gamer crowd. They released all kinds of oddball software, which requires little player commitment. Now Apple/Android has taken away that market and left nintendo back to the "children's video games" world whose sales numbers are much lower.

I don't think it's doom and gloom, but--as far as Nintendo is concerned--it's back to square one. And, personally, I can't see the PSP-Vita doing much better.

Wii U launching worldwide in time for 'year-end season'

Nintendo is not usually first to release a console...I somehow don't feel very optimistic that it'll be popular with parents--especially if the touchscreen controller needs to be replaced after a kid busts the screen.

Silent Hill: Downpour brings the old back to the new

Jan 10th 2012 4:24AM (Joystiq)
@Dubiousity

Then don't buy it.

It will likely be a re-invention of whatever few elements are still left in the Silent Hill series, but I guarantee it will not be close to the spirit that the Original 3 captured. If you're trying to get what Silent Hill was about, you're better off getting a hold of a PS2 and getting the games on ebay.

Nintendo, EA and Sony also rescind SOPA support

I guess this proves that the internet has become so ubiquitous to society that we can't live with it or without it. We have made the internet as contradictory as ourselves.

Merry Christmas, here's a frog playing video games

Nintendo: 3DS likely to outperform DS's first-year sales in US

Nov 12th 2011 11:40AM (Joystiq)
It's true. The DS had a slow start, and then it picked up momentum. but it was done on the strength of the redesign AND some game-changing software, neither of which the 3DS has at this point. The DS really came to its own with Nintendogs, and the Brain series--concepts that had never appeared before in such an accessible way. The 3DS needs something just as innovative to become a success, something that a mobile phone cannot do. Right now, I don't think anyone knows what it is--and it's definitely not 3-D.

EA: first-week NHL 12 sales break franchise record

Sep 21st 2011 3:42PM (Joystiq)
I wonder how much it had to do with the Jets coming back. Although, now that I think of it, the phoenix coyotes would have the Jets' retro jersey to choose from in previous NHL versions.

They can't compete with karaoke. it's more comfortable, louder, cheaper, and you can have all the drinks you want served to your room.

New PS3 Terms of Service aim to prevent class-action lawsuits, are part of mandatory PSN update

Sep 16th 2011 8:34PM (Joystiq)
I'm getting a gut feeling that something like this will not stand up in court if the negligence on Sony is serious enough to go to court.

It's like saying "you're not allowed to demand your rights if we screw up".
