Mars Bars and marshmallows for Veronica Mars

Jun 10th 2007 1:55PM (AOL TV)
Annie, can you really blame them? Seeing a lesser show get renewed due to a savvy fan campaign should, if anything, give them hope. The save Veronica Mars campaign has been going on for a while, this is just another tactic added on. I've been following Jericho as well and it certainly does deserve a second chance, but qualitatively VM is the better show--despite the ratings issues.

CW screwed this season by demanding shorter arcs, and was just never able to sell the show before as UPN. Seeing as it's the only decent hourlong they would have next season, I think it would still be in their best interest to give it another run.

Gamespot leaks Xbox 360's new dashboard

The low power auto-shutdown is probably going to be similar to what the console does when you leave the "Play and Charge" kit plugged in after shutting down. It basically runs until the controller is fully charged and then shuts itself down. It's something we should have had a long time ago but it's nice to see it finally getting added.

George Foreman to be a judge on American Inventor

Mar 21st 2007 11:04AM (AOL TV)
What did Foreman invent exactly? The grill was just a product endorsement that was actually offered to Hulk Hogan first (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulk_Hogan#Endorsements).

Possible Crackdown DLC details

Agreed Pimpzilla, the coop definitely needs to be amped up much more. Deathmatch sounds cool, but there's also tons of space for other sorts of coop missions. Imagine competing for number of kills, vehicles exploded, etc. The world is rich and complete enough that they need only add some rules to make coop more enjoyable.

Define "How you killed your brand" for us, we'll define "you're wrong"

Feb 26th 2007 3:11PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Wow, for once I'd like to see a PS3 journalist not try to avoid the fact this whole thing is a giant frackstorm. All of your points are overly defensive and defy logic in many cases.

1) I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers on the wii not outselling the PS3 until Feb 2007. This is the original article (http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Sony_Claims_Wii_Is_More_of_a_Novelty_Despite_Wii_Sales_Doubling_PS3_Sales) and those numbers make sense to me, especially given the PS3's ultra low production output.

2)You're saying the pricing of the PS3 is a good thing because it's similar to the Neo Geo, 3D0, and Saturn?! There is no witty response to this. Seriously.

3) Finally, whatever you do don't defend Bluray. It's a prime example of Sony's corporate greed, it was never something that the PS3 required. You keep saying "Wait until you need that Bluray space!", but seriously, how long will that be? And MOST people don't need Bluray movies because they don't have HDTVs. Sony wanted to control the HD disc market and saw that including it in the PS3 was the easiest way to penetrate the market.
BR is the problem with the PS3 because it was the main reason initial production was so low, and the main reason the price is so high. Without Bluray, the PS3 would have been competitively priced with the 360 and Sony would have avoided much of their bad press. Honestly the way I see it the inclusion of Bluray is indefensible. I have yet to see a reasonable non-fanboyish justification for it--

Shots surface of ATI's R600 -- and boy is she a big one

Is it just me, or is state of PC gaming looking very grim when things like this become standard? A full length card?! 240 watts power usage?! I know it's only just the "special" version of the card, but this just seems like it's setting a bad precedent...

Kevin Rose confirms iPhone?

Dec 3rd 2006 2:36PM (Engadget)
The dual battery design is the first interesting development I've seen in all of these iPhone rumors. I've always found it strange how people would want to drain battery life from such a critical device as their cell phone just to listen to music. What's more important, having battery life during an emergency or listening to Diddy's latest? This may actually be a good stop-gap solution until we see further advances in battery tech.

Xbox 360 HD DVD pre-order costs $99 if you do some funny math

Nov 5th 2006 10:19PM (Engadget)
HD DVD stand-alone players still cost ~$400, so a $200 drive that connects to something people may already have is a good deal. The drive is more targeted at the techy segment, which would probably be greater among the Xbox 360 market share than general consumers.

Is it a counter to the PS3? Well of course. It's called competition, it keeps everyone on their toes. Just the same, the motion sensing in the PS3 is a poor mans Wii interface.

All I know is that I want one of these HD DVD drives because it's the cheapest way for me to get into the HD movie market. With HDTVs out for more than half a decade, it's about time we get some content. It's different than the PS3/Bluray scenario because Sony pushes it on the consumer, and most people end up spending hundreds of dollars when they will never take full advantage of Bluray discs. Hell most people today still don't get the most from DVDs.

In the end, it's about choice. Sony may be creating a large Bluray user base by forcing it on everyone with the PS3, but the real question is if people will actually take advantage of it... As for this HD DVD drive, Microsoft could end up marketing it to PC users as well since it's just a standard USB 2 external drive. That will certainly open up its potential user base quite a bit ;)

G4 consolidates into E!

Oct 13th 2006 4:07PM (AOL TV)
Wow, so now they can add even more useless programming that has nothing to do with technology or video games. Huzzah. Everyone above is right, Tech TV, despite its constant repeats, was an amazing channel that I would kill to have back on the air. Luckily, we're almost there with all the podcasts the old Tech TV crew are involved in.

Take a look at the "This Week in Tech" network at www.twit.tv and rejoice in the fact that you're not support G4 or it's idiotic hosts anymore. The television revolution will be online!

Veronica Mars: Welcome Wagon (season premiere)

Oct 4th 2006 9:09AM (AOL TV)
I thought the Saturn product placement was pretty hilarious, although I will miss V's convertible. Her old car just screamed "California" to me, the Saturn SUV is just kinda boring. Also, I would never have guessed that she would pick a big SUV, seeing as how it's never too useful for sleuthing and all...
