Rumor: Sony 'mandating' some unique Trophies in 2009

Jul 18th 2008 2:57PM (Joystiq)
Taking from McPoops idea which I have seen brought up by others on the playstation forum, what about making the trophies worth a discount in the psstore? 10 Platinum trophies gets you, i dont know, GT5P or some other major downloadable item. 25 bronze get you a charactor for bowling or pain..

Overheard@E3: Sleeping on the job

Jul 16th 2008 3:54PM (Joystiq)
"It felt like more of a keynote speech to investors than an introduction of cool, new products to consumers."

Dirk, E3 IS for investors as well as consumer media. That is why each and every speaker goes over the financials.

Burnout Paradise's 'Cagney' update delayed on Xbox 360 until July 24

This is in clear violation of PS3's patent on being last. It's your ass XBOX! Your attorneys should expect to be notified.

New look for Platinum Trophy in PS3 firmware 2.41

Jul 8th 2008 4:14PM (Joystiq)
I have always felt that while original intentions were good, it all leads to some ass-clown outside the map nading the spawn points or the enemabandit trading/giving free headshots and the accomplishment faster/easier than the guy who can play the game right and earns it. Congrats douches!

Don't get me wrong I like the extra challenge, I just hate frauds being grouped in with the truly gifted players.

New look for Platinum Trophy in PS3 firmware 2.41

Jul 8th 2008 2:48PM (Joystiq)
Paul, from what I've read is the splitscreen co-op is what stands in most peoples way of the platinum trophy. That is to become available in a recently pulled update for sshd when the whole 2.4 thing hit.

(on a side point, how is it that the co-op trophy which is said to be really easy to get (once you've updated) and it's a more valuable than say that 7 minute panic attack in endless which is bronze. I believe it should be the opposite.

PS3 2.40 bricking caused by 'certain' system admin data

Jul 8th 2008 12:47PM (Joystiq)
sadly/luckily I pay alot of attention to firmware dates here on joystiq and other sites as well so I was there for the very second the 2.4 went live. I updated both of my PS3s and even snagged a trophy that night as well. I even let a friend of mine know that the FW had just gone live and to snag it while traffic was low.
He had no problem either.

But all this talk of losing game saves and HDD bricking has me wondering if it will be possible for me to keep my game saves and settings on a shared network drive in case something similar hits everyone.

Cast your vote for Spider-Man box ... in the trash

Jul 1st 2008 7:30PM (Joystiq)
So in hand of Spiderman on the left is a handful of "soft serve" with a picture over it? HAHA.

Marvel has made so much money between the games and movies and the games for the movies that they should just stop with those comic things save some trees and sell ideas directly to movie studios.

(btw Antman is getting a movie - antman!?)

Activision CEO sticks to console price drop message

Jul 1st 2008 5:09PM (Joystiq)
I have paid for 2 PS3s since the systems launch. So there is $1000. I have 1 (of the 10 at least) Activision game that I played longer than 2 weeks. At 50-60 a piece, I'd say the PS3 is the better long term entertainment investment.
