Aussie PS3 boss: Don't compare systems ... but if you do, PS3 is better
Mar 1st 2007 9:31PM (Joystiq)Foot-in-mouth disease must be contagious, as it seems to be spreading across all of Sony's upper management. ;)
Is the 20GB PS3 already on its way out?
Feb 28th 2007 9:29PM (Joystiq)I feel the same way about my 360. The silver cover for the DVD tray really bothers me. Funny how both companies made the premium consoles seem tackier than the base consoles.

Jan 12th 2007 11:47PM (Joystiq)Even so, Motor Storm's a damn good looking game. If it was on 360 I'd definitely buy it, as I much prefer the offroad racers. Unfortunately I doubt any similar 360 game will receive nearly as much of a development budget. Does anyone know if any offroad racers are currently planned or in development for the 360?

Jan 8th 2007 2:13PM (Joystiq)Gears of War update: more talk, less tagging
Jan 8th 2007 11:41AM (Joystiq)I prefer playing with friends myself, but it's simply unfair to others when you play ranked matches with your buddies, given the current system.
With that said, I'll definitely agree that the one feature GoW needs more than any other is a party system a la Halo. Epic is aware of this, but IIRC Mark Rein has stated in their forums that it would take tons of work at this point. This doesn't mean it won't happen, as Epic is big on supporting their games post-release, but it does mean that if it does happen it will take a while. Meanwhile, I'm glad they leveled the playing field for ranked matches; now I'm tempted to go back online and try getting some achievements.
Also, HELL YEAH on the big penalty for quitting a match early. Halo needed this badly.
Meet Ana, the Xbox 360 hardware scaler
Jan 5th 2007 6:42PM (Joystiq)“256 MB of RAM makes a huge difference. There is no way we could ever do Gears of War on 256, we had trouble fitting everything on 512MB. We pushed the 360 to the limits.” - Epic
The above quote was even blogged by Joystiq.
More graphics you won't be seeing in-game [update 1]
Jan 4th 2007 10:11PM (Joystiq)"But given the screenshots intended marketing use not to mention their deceptive and pre-rendered past..."
I originally took this as being a dig at Operation Burnout, and not at the entire medium of game screenshots. It took me a moment (and some link-surfing) to realize you meant that screenshots in general, and not Operation Burnout, are untrustworthy. You might consider rewording that sentence.
Gears of War wins another "game of the year" award
Dec 29th 2006 1:33PM (Joystiq)Your blatant fanboyism is showing here. The game is short because they ran out of development time; you can tell because one of the big monsters in the game is never fought, while you fight a Berserker twice. They didn't have time to put in the other boss, so they just subbed a berserker.
DVD's are extremely, extremely cheap to produce, ESPECIALLY compared to Blu-ray discs. There is no reason that, if they had the content for the game, they would hesitate to split the game across a couple DVD's. The game they took so many ideas from, RE4, did just that, and nobody complained about it.
You can complain about how short you think the game is all you want, but to say it's short because they didn't put it on Blu-ray is nothing short of idiotic.
