Ninja Gaiden 3 getting free DLC weapons, multiplayer stages

Mar 17th 2012 10:39AM (Joystiq)
I've always loved NG games, but this one seems to have missed the point of the series entirely.

1. You only have one weapon during the entire game. The dragon sword. And there are no upgrades.
2. Complete regen after each battle. The game became far too easy to please "WESTERN AUDIENCES" lolololol.
3. Almost no bosses compared to the previous games.
4. The game is heavily focused on the story, but NG stories has always been a joke and this one doesn't really change that.
5. No co-op. I still play NGS2 co-op to this day. Versus mode? Wtf? The controls don't fit well!
6. Ninpo sucks.

It seems that after Itagaki left, Tecmo wanted to take a dump on his hard work and that's how NG3 came to be.

DJ Hero dev FreeStyleGames in limbo, 'actively working with Activision on various options'

@Lordd G
Exactly, this is "unsustainable business model" at its finest. Try taking a few years off and come back with some innovation rather than saturate the market with rehashes.

I feel bad for DJ Hero though, it had potential.

@Cleric
This happens to the US PSN as well. Try looking for the Sengoku Basara demo, for example.

Best of the Rest: Mike's picks of 2010

@archipelagos It's funny that you and many others mention the characters as a weak point in FF13. Did you guys play the same game as I did? Because playing Sazh in Chapter 9 and 10 got me so involved that for the first time since Aeris' death I had tears in my eyes while playing a Final Fantasy game.

I've played nearly every FF out there, yes, even FFXI (and its excellent storylines in the Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Uhrgan and Rise of the Zilart expansions) and I thought 13 was very well among the best. The gameplay is fast-paced while remaining strategic and the game is never "too easy" (unlike other FFs, where I could beat any boss half-asleep).

It's also the first FF besides 6 and maybe 9 where the world doesn't revolve around the main character's affairs. If you take away Cloud, Squall, Tidus... the other characters are all very limited in appearance. You just "imagine" how cool they act, but they really are irrelevant to everything that's happening. Ok, to be fair, each character has one small "arc" in the story where they are central, but after that, they are just part of the main character's army. That doesn't happen in FF13, all characters are there all the time. Maybe the linearity did help its cause in some ways that certain "open" FFs didn't. In fact, I'm really skeptical of calling FF13 out for its linearity when every FF has been very linear and you had little to no chance to explore the world until the very end of the game when you got an airship or whatever. 12 is an exception to this. But if you just play FF10 again and you'll see what I'm talking about.

People bitched at FF13 for being FF. Seriously, what did you expect?

*insert generic senseless bashing on Final Fantasy XIII and compares it to Mass Effect 2*

Hey guys, I did it, can I be one of the cool kids now?

Tron: Evolution to have free, day-one multiplayer DLC

Nov 24th 2010 12:13PM (Joystiq)
@GMB Brian Both. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/10/11/tron-evolution-for-ps3-multiplayer-report-3d-details-playstation-move-update/ Check the video

I'm excited for this game actually, the only thing that worries me is that the AI seems very dull (maybe the demonstrations don't show the game on hard difficulty). Multiplayer should make up for that anyways.

ORTHROS one-handed joystick controller mod gets the job done

@MasterGouken Back in the 90s there was a dude known as "The One-Handed Terror" who was an able SF player. He was considered one of the best back then, and he played in the arcades..

Wow, these Saw 3D advertisements sure look familiar

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 review: Spin-dashed hopes

Oct 13th 2010 9:44PM (Joystiq)
@zero2dash What's more odd about Sonic 4 is that, while you can run uphill without momentum, you can't spindash it (which you used to be able to in previous games). And since I just replayed the old games for the billionth time very recently, this hit me instantly and I keep trying to spindash through loops and everything just to lose all speed about halfway through. ~.~
