Dark Side 'Cause It Looks Cool: The Failings of Moral Choice in Games

Sit down, relax and release some Rage tonight for $15 on Steam
Feb 10th 2012 3:16PM (Joystiq)So what is your point? That PC "elitists" are correct? Since 15 is still less than 17?
Even if it was 20 on Steam, I'd still rather not give my money to GameStop.

Feb 10th 2012 3:04PM (Joystiq)Maybe they didn't know until now? It's been an ongoing investigation.

Feb 10th 2012 1:17PM (Joystiq)That only shows more people played as male Shepard. I see no stats for whose voice they liked better.
That said, I find Hale's acting much more interesting and dynamic. Male Shepard is fine, but sounds much more generic.

Feb 9th 2012 2:46PM (Joystiq)That's why I mentioned it.
The other side of the argument is: of course Dell is putting these together for less than $700, how else are they going to make money on them? It's in their best interest (profit-wise) to make them as cheaply as possible, but they have to balance expense and quality, otherwise they end up with a crappy machine and unhappy customers.
What seems to concern people here is that they're selling them for *way* more than they're worth, but a little research shows that's simply not true.

Feb 9th 2012 1:07PM (Joystiq)Even so, going with a lower priced card (GT520), and a cheaper, lower performance green drive (assuming they're putting in at least 500gb), and 4gb of the cheapest ram I could find, I can't get it under $450. And I haven't even included a case or a decent small form-factor psu (which is an oxymoron, most sff psus are crap).
Yes it's less than $700. No it's not "$300 TOPS." Maybe that's all DELL will be paying for each one (though I doubt it's that low), but no consumer will be able to get anywhere close to the price you're quoting.

Feb 9th 2012 12:57PM (Joystiq)You're right about the card, especially if that's NOT a typo and it is actually a GT and not a GTX like it should be. I think the 545 they're using is a cheap OEM-only card.
DDR3 is dirt cheap yes, but the hard drives will not be. We've been slowly recovering, but after the flooding in Taiwan hdds have been in short supply and the prices have raised accordingly.

Feb 9th 2012 12:50PM (Joystiq)When it comes to gaming, we can already build computers that have more power than developers know what to do with. The only thing left is to make them smaller and more efficient.
