Geez I hope I got that all right or I'm going to be flamed - the point is that all the companies have copied from each other. If they can tweak and improve on something - then that's good. Face it, no company is a supreme innovator anymore (well aside from Google ;)
Accept the fact that the company that you root for and makes you feel safe and secure in your purchase has, at some point, stole and implemented an idea and may have even tried to pass it off as it's own invention.

Jun 30th 2008 9:37AM (Joystiq)I like single player games mostly (on consoles) and personally, I think both systems have good games. If I want a rich community that allows for modding and creativity, I'll go to a more mature one like the PC (TF2, COD4, WoW - yes you might laugh at the WoW reference and I find it hard to believe myself but it's users are more mature than the 360 crowd - too much testosterone I guess. Personally, I think achievements are a way to make up for a poor game design. Their purpose is to distract people from the fact that there is really not that much depth in a game.
Pain gets some free content
Jun 19th 2008 3:03PM (Joystiq)Microsoft wants to go first (again) with next Xbox
Jun 18th 2008 10:34AM (Joystiq)PS2 is still going strong - where is the original xbox? Sony seems to build their consoles to last longer than 2-3 years and it's something that Microsoft should learn because as a consumer, I don't really feel like going out and buying a new console and going through the painful process of weaker games coming out in the first year.
If you look at years 5+ for the PS2, you will see some amazing games because people really figured out how to get the most out of it. I don't think we are going to see that for the 360 because MS will drop the 360 just as quick and they dropped the original xBox. I support an expensive product as long as it takes in consideration that I don't want to have to upgrade every 2-3 years. Sony was smart in that they built in a lot of good standard technologies into their console (HDMI 1.3, Bluetooth, SATA-HDD, WiFi) while Microsoft thought it was not important. People are now bitching about the high costs of upgrading the 360 to make it current with todays standards. BluRay was icing on the cake for them as a standard was not set at the time of release.

PS3 beats Wii in Japan for second week
Nov 25th 2007 7:44PM (Joystiq)The PS3 is a great deal for someone who is looking to buy an inexpensive HD player. It gets firmware updates constantly and it many functions aside from a simple Blu-Ray player. The 360/HD-DVD combo costs more and your feature/cost ration is weaker.
I worry about the future when idiots like you open your mouth to offer advice that is based on your ignorance and arrogance. Try thinking about others for a change before you mock/bully someone into doing something they don't feel comfortable with. Just a guess, you thought there were WMD's in Iraq right?
PS3 version of Orange Box might be 'downright unplayable'
Nov 25th 2007 7:29PM (Joystiq)I know I'm pissing against the wind here, but who cares about if the game is crap on the PS3? It's clear that Valve hates Microsoft's "Games for Windows" idea (bringing xbox microtransactions to the PC) and they dislike the PS3.
Half Life 2 and the Orange Box is a game that has it's roots in the PC and should never have gone to a console. Team Fortress 2 is da bomb on the PC and the consoles got it weeks after the PC crowd was playing it. Let the console crowds play Halo and Warhawk till the cows come home - they are more suited for console play than the subtleties of a PC MP FPS.
