"The problem lies in the fact that they didn't use the facial muscles when she talked and smiled. When someone goes to talk or make a facial expression then almost all the muscles in the face are used. In this demo, that just wasn't the case."
To add to this, you see a flicker of light (that is supposed to be the tongue) but you never see the tongue when talking, it looks like a deep black hole. This also made the teeth stand out too much. Some items in the scene (frig magnets) apparently didn't run through the same lighting engine as the rest of the scene (notice how they glow). Her skin was way too smooth looking (light reflected and shined rather than being absorbed).
A few other things didn't work for me, like lake of breathing, some of the hair, etc....
And to answer one of the other questions, why did they use out of focus shots? It shows a state of mastery. Shooting something out of focus (esp. in an artistic manner) isn't simple in a digital age. Even more difficult is switching focus. When you see this in movies (esp animation Lion King pops into mind) the tech is saying "Look what I can do...".... anyhow my two scents.
"I thought the comment system was for users who regularly read the boards to rate other users. I feel like I'm being picked last for kickball. I'm only a faithful reader for over a year now, proudly wearing my Joystiq shirt when it's at least semi clean, but now I feel like I'm not cool enough to be here." - Someone get that man a star.....
Don't worry, you're sure to be picked next. I'm the slow fat kid that needs glasses, so......
"Utilizing the communication facility of Wii remote control" - This means, yes it plugs into the remote for the Wii... Why? You don't have to get a long cord to plug into the system, you can just piggy back on the remote and use it's wireless. Proably add a few effect through the remote speaker and who know what else. I would almost bet it snaps onto the wii remote.
As for the buttons (1 and 2 are on the wii remote, but XYAB were on the SNES controller). If it emulation and when setting game options it talks about mapping the a or b button, you don't have go back and figure which one is what. ?a, b and cross [d-pad], X, Y, L, R and ZR, ZL button (L, as for R button analog)[sound like four shoulder buttons to be compatiable with Genesis?] ?L and R stick [agree that R stick is same as C stick, same as the C-up, C-Down, etc...] ?- (0) /Select and Home, + (plus) /Start button
ART GUY, About the progression. Nintendo did add sensitivity to the controlls first. The were the first to tell pressure (full push, half push) etc. The others (MS and SONY) quickly followed suit.
jk I hate to break this too you but Live wasn't the first to do all that. One of the first was Compuserver and Prodigy (probably back when you were a gleam in dad's eye). Look 'em up in Wiki if you don't know. Then came AOL and gave us all this plus graphics. This was the first incarnation of live. You could chat and meet other people. You could email them. You could leave messages for them. You could find out what game or room they were in. You could buy things. You could download special content. You could do your homework. You could pirate movies. You could find ways to forge credit cards. AOL in '94 did everything Live does now (except VOIP, that didn't come til a little later '95 or '96 i think). That is why I say PC did it before XBL, because it did. After AOL, there was MSN, GAMESPY, who know how many BBS before AOL. It just looks prettier now thanks to Gates, kinda like the whole Xerox, Apple, Windows thing ;)
