PSA: 'Gun-like' Avatar items disappearing from XBLM on Jan. 1

Ha -- looks like the Wii is going to have some competition in the "ur consolez is 4 teh KIDDEEEEZ!" department.

Mommy's Best responds to new Dash gripes with new shmup Game Type

I love indie gaming, but lately (and largely led by the professional whingers at Team Meat) they are just coming off as a bunch of whiny brats.

There has *never* been a better time for indie gaming, and frankly, platforms like XBLA and Steam are the reason why. If you want exposure, make better games, and you'll get exposure. Farting out some shmup that is more concerned with being snarky than being fun and admitting you threw it together in 7 days is not a good way to start.

PSN Tuesday: Sonic CD, Trine 2 and Apples to Apples

"Sister's kids"?

Apples to Apples is one of the best adult party games on the market!

CD Projekt demands Witcher 2 pirates pay up, '100% sure' it's targeting properly

Dec 15th 2011 4:19PM (Joystiq)
I like CD Projekt and all, but I would still love to know where they're getting this 4.5 million statistic.

Otherwise, this is an interesting business model. Make a big deal about your software having no DRM so that it's easier to pirate. Then, invent a completely ludicrous statistic to inflate the amount of money you've "lost" and go after torrent sites to get it back.

Profit!

GBA Ambassador games out in UK and Japan this Friday, full list revealed

@Vic Fontaine

Don't listen to them. LOZ is a classic, but it doesn't hold up at all so many years later. It's borderline unplayable in 2011, as much charm as it may have for those of us that grew up with it.

It's just not cool to say so.

In what way is Dead Island a "surprise hit?" It was hyped to hell and back.

Let Sony sell you on the PlayStation Vita

Dec 13th 2011 6:45AM (Joystiq)
I'm sold on the console. I'm not sold on shelling out a ton of money for proprietary memory cards priced at extortion levels.

I can get a 32 GB SD card for less than $10. There's no reason that Sony needs to charge $120 for the same amount of storage.

Man... I got myself into a Freespace phase a few months back. Such a great game. Damn shame that that entire genre has gone the way of the dodo. For the life of me, I'll never understand why gamers no longer enjoy flying spaceships.

LostWinds demonstrated on iOS

Wonderful, wonderful game, as was the sequel. I hope this expands its audience, but I'm still sad that it didn't fare better on WiiWare. When you have a user install base of nine gazillion, I don't understand how gems like this go completely overlooked.

4.5 million pirated copies of Witcher 2 out there, according to CD Projekt

Nov 30th 2011 11:56AM (Joystiq)
Great game, and I like CD Projekt as much as anybody... but this whole thing smacks of publicity.

Step 1: Company pulls some *shocking* piracy numbers completely out of its ass.

Step 2: Company plays the good guy by not instituting copy protection, and instead issuing grand speeches about how a noble company is meant to behave.

Step 3: Everybody posts below the article about how awesome CD Projekt is.

Step 4: Profit from good publicity.

These guys are great, and I love what they do. But come on... *4.5 million*????? No. Just... no.
