Went to two Best Buy stores this morning -- nada.

NFL could replace play books with iPads

Actually DirecTV has been streaming live NFL games over the web for the last two seasons. In 2009 it was a pilot program for Manhattan residents (because NY'ers often can't get DirecTV installed in apt. buildings) and in 2010 they extended it nationwide to anyone who "couldn't receive a satellite signal".

It's $350 for the season. http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/nflstonline/overview

Apple banning sexual content in the App Store?

Feb 19th 2010 5:36PM (TUAW.com)
I think, to your question, it comes down to Safari being a general purpose app versus the "sexy" apps being dedicated to sexy content. Safari isn't explicitly designed for browsing porn while the "sexy" apps are dedicated to it (or other "sexual" activity).

Also, it seems like the prominence of these "sexy" apps in the app store are what's getting Apple heated. They probably want to move away from the perception of being purveyors of smut.

I think the best move would be to add a filter to show/hide this type of app so customers can choose their desired behavior. Apple shouldn't really lock them out (they're locking themselves out of potential revenue in the process).

In praise of the iPad: A contrarian view

I can do without the Flash, but I agree the missing camera is a bummer. However, I'm guessing it was likely excluded due to constraints of cost. Constraints of timing to get this thing to market (how long have we all "known" about this thing?) And constraints of engineering, they were preparing a whole new chipset!

Furthermore, the first iteration of iPhone was extremely lacking, in retrospect, when compared to the following 3G and 3GS improvements.

... default app for ZIP files that is.

TUAW Review: StuffIt Deluxe 2010

Oct 3rd 2009 7:33PM (TUAW.com)
Stuffit sucks. Totally useless and costly software. RAR is easily tackled by other free/cheap-ware out there. I'm especially peeved by Mactards out there that still think Stuffit is the only way to compress files on a Mac (how long has OSX supported ZIP now?). I work in advertising/design and at least once a month it seems someone from the client side sends or requests assets in SIT format. UGH! Also, can we get Mozilla (Mac Firefox) to change the default app in the download dialogue box to not be Stuffit Expander?

"10:48AM Sports fans should be sufficiently stoked. We love these game demos and everything, but we do wish they would get to the meat here. And by meat, we mean new iPods."

Relax!

Yeah I tried DL a while back. Nice and pretty, but bogs down like hell. Becoming useless after your catalog gets bigger. I too don't understand why the DM devs get so much praise on this site.
