90,000 HD DVD players sold in one weekend

Nov 7th 2007 11:53AM (Engadget HD)
ben, 250,000 does compare to 750,000. see what is blu's lead in movie sales compare to hd dvd. 2-1 right. and they have so many many many more players sold then hd dvd but they cant seem to step up their movie sales lead to something more like 5-1 or even 7-1 where it should really be. that is were the real numbers come into play. people that buy hddvd players will use it while those millions of ps3 that can play blu seem to never be used for that purpose. the format war is now and this holiday season.

Nov 7th 2007 10:58AM (Engadget HD)
ok 100,000 hd dvd players sold before this? are you counting the 360 hd dvd add on. There was a news report saying that over 200,000 units have been sold so far. add 100,000 standalone players which had been previously sold according to ben's estimates and another 100,000 this weekend that more in the range of around 400,000. we havnt even hit black friday yet, a couple more weekends with discounted hd dvd players and toshiba will have sony wondering of their stance to stay at 399.99.

Sony clarifies Americans aren't 'cheap,' but U.S. labor is

Mar 27th 2007 12:57PM (Joystiq)
It's not being cheap. it's being realistic. So it's not cheap when americans gobble up your HDTV's, sound sytems, and computers but when we don't buy your ps3 were cheap. It's not that were cheap it's that your product sucks just what the ipod did to the walkman. the wii and 360 are doing to your brilliant ps3.

The Best Buy PS3 camp out begins

Nov 9th 2006 2:39PM (Joystiq)
someone should actually start a site for anti-sony fanboys who would donate money for a person to wait in line for 15 days and get a ps3 and then once they get it open it up in front of all those that waited in line but werent unable to get one and just smash it against the concrete with a hammer and have it shatter into hundreds of pieces. People would cry in agony knowing that their only chance to a ps3 would be to super glue the pieces back up and hope the blue-ray drive could still play ridge racerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

* Ey someone did this when the xbox 360 came out, their was a video of it on youtube.

Japan to get fewer PS3 launch units due to part problems

Oct 30th 2006 3:35PM (Joystiq)
Hey, the launch is still a couple weeks away so that gives sony the opportunity for more major announcements such as fewer ps3's in North America... and another delay in Europe due to the fact that an incredible amount of systems were defective which has caused them to relocate shipments from Europe to parts of Japan and North America. In other news.... the Xbox 360 reaches 10 million while the Wii sells an astonishing 6 million during the Holiday Season.

Microsoft "confident" in shipping 10 million 360s by Q4

Oct 27th 2006 8:14PM (Joystiq)
Yes Sony sold 100+ million PS2's but how many of those were second time buyers replacing broken down systems after a couple years? No doubt Sony has sold a alot of consoles but the ps3 isnt the ps2.... Theres more competition now and while Sony and Nintendo dual it off in Japen. North America and Europe could be easily won by Microsoft if they put out enough systems that consumers will demand.

Earnings reports: Sony slumps, Nintendo, Microsoft surge

Oct 26th 2006 6:34PM (Joystiq)
How many Xbox 360's sold by the time Sony can actually solve supply problems and meet the demand? May I say 12 Million.
