Patch for buggy Bully on 360 coming next week

Mar 14th 2008 4:11PM (Joystiq)
Hey swagman, I'll testify that this problem is legit. I have a launch Xbox 360 and have been proud/lucky that I have avoided the RRoD but now I am hosed because of this game. My system freezes up just seconds or minutes after booting up no matter what game is in there and that never happened til I put Bully in. The load times were awful by the way, maybe that's just the old system. So I hope this patch comes quickly and it works because it turned my 360 into a useless paper weight.

Thanks R* & M$!

It will be interesting to see just how long the patch takes to come out. It's been a week. I doubt Microsoft can get a patch through their certification process in a week.

Yeah, I'm jaded.

CoD2 vets have flashbacks in CoD3 multiplayer

I for one am getting annoyed by the release now, patch later process. Too many games for the 360 have had these issues. Obvious issues like these should be worked out BEFORE release. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEIR LAST GAME HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. A different developer creating this game is no excuse. I really hope this trend does not continue.

GamePolitics: Congress should grill Take Two

Jun 19th 2006 1:07PM (Joystiq)
I agree fully. Just with the nature of the content in the GTA franchise, even with out the hot coffee incident, given its popularity of the game Rock Star and T2 should make people aware of the violence involved. This is the flagship title that is bringing down the industry as a whole. I was in GameStop a while ago and there was a mother in there with her two kids hanging from her arms kicking and screaming, "Can I get Grand Theft Auto, can I get Grand Theft Auto!?!?" This kid couldn't have been any older than 8 years old. I didn't stick around to see if she did the right thing or if she gave into the whining. But the way the developer and publisher handled the situation seems as though they were trying to slip the questionable content into the game. So the backlash seems warranted.

Overheard at E3: Japanese don't accept first-person shooters

I for one am not a fan of FPS for similar reasons. Sometimes you can't see where you are going, you get stuck on stuff on the floor and go nowhere, which really stinks when you are trying to get out of a hectic situation. I wonder how hard it would be for a developer to give the player a third person option. I have passed on many games that looked good just because of the first person perspective. 360's COD2 actually made me want to play it but I still prefer third person.

How do ads in games benefit gamers?

May 5th 2006 4:01PM (Joystiq)
Great comments everyone. I agree with most posts here and highly doubt the end consumer (gamers) will reap any benefits of in game ads. On something like xbox live maybe. But I would bet the game prices won't come down when ads are in them. That cut will probably go to the publisher or some other party involved, not the consumer. That may sound cynical, but that's what we are used to with corporate america. I would love it if they prove me wrong and bring prices down because the last few games I have purchased cost me $75 after tax. That's not a drop in my bucket. I don't want to shell out that kind of cash and have a bad gaming experience with product branding all in your face, it should definitely be done with some tact. Those are my thoughts on which could be a very touchy era in gaming.
