I have yet to try it out, but it seems like the exploration of the original titles is absent in this version. So in effect its like boss battle after boss battle. While I am all for a property going to a new platform, and I do think this is a good fit for a touchscreen device, it does not appeal to me as a casual MH player.

I have this and love it. Simple, works as advertised, and pretty customizable. Plus, its $2.

Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance doesn't hold a candle to FFT, IMO. War of the Lions is a great update to the original game including a fantastic re-translation, some really spiffy cut scenes and a couple of characters from other games thrown in for good measure. I am curious as to how well a such a menu heavy game will translate to touchscreen. If they implement swipes/gestures it would be much better than constantly tapping to open menu after menu.

Not quite. TV's are a different market. TV's can have firmware updated to add functionality after the fact, just like Apple TV. If Apple were to do this (I doubt they will) all they need to do is keep a 2-3 refresh cycle with minor enhancements yearly. Just like current HDTV manufacturers do.
