World of Darkness presented at EVE Fanfest 2012

Mar 24th 2012 3:57PM (Massively)
Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. While there is no doubt the World of Darkness world has a female fanbase it is primarily female. Its pretty half and half.

But more importantly there destroying one of the best vampire/supernatural universes out there. WoD is about the grittyness of the world, the despair and the UNSEXINESS of the supernatural world

The fashion thing is stupid as hell. Its about politics and secrets and general backstabbery. Not about making a dress match with some shoes. Its about power and survival. I don't know how CCP managed to fubar this up after acquiring White Wolf but from what I've heard so far its awful.

CCP, thanks for Twilight-ing my favorite vampire lore. WTF.

Star Wars: The Old Republic answers questions on 1.2 and priorities

@Dunraven Thats because time and time again its been shown that you can NOT make a community off of casuals. Casual's come and go often at the whim of their friends.

Yes the hardcore crowd is hard to please but they make up the backbone of it. They are the ones organizing groups and raids. They are one one's doing the theorycrafting that determines best builds and how coming up with guides.

The problem that no one understands is that hardcore content can be tuned for casuals but not inversely.

Case in point. Being able to run a flashpoint with 2 players and 2 companions means you have to reduce the difficulty of the content. The companions simply do not have the strength of a player character.

However if you do this then you trivialize running it as a full group. Why get 4 people when you can duo it? This instantly turns off the group of gamers who like a challenge in there game and group dynamics.

To accommodate this they would have to add an ADDITIONAL difficulty just for Duo's. That's not something that will happen anytime soon.

Anyway the main point is that the only way anyone gets taken seriously is by being serious. An MMO is a long term project, not a flash in the pain. The hardcore crowd gets more love because they bark the loudest and suscribe the longest. Look at any long lived game and the crowd that stays is the hardcore crowd.

PlayStation claims lead in Netflix devices, adding CinemaNow to PSN

I have to call BS. When I get on XBL I have at least 15 people at any given time that's watching something on Netflix. And on PSN, well never. But then again my PSN friend's list is a tenth of the size of my XBL list.

Guys like you anger me so much. You have no idea what your talking about. They went F2P because the population can no longer sustain the game on a subscription basis. If a company can charge $15 a month they will, its obviously better. But F2P has its own benefits as they learned from DDO. Sure you can play for free but your GREATLY limited in what you can do. The optimal way is to buy from the market or have a sub.

Going F2P basically opened up the game to those people who can't afford a standard sub, or don't want to. But once in the game people will love it and spend money, just like DDO.

You want to get made at someone? Get made at gamers for not playing one of the best made MMO's out their. Don't get mad at Turbine for doing what it has to do survive.

Do you get made at a car company when the value of your car goes down? Because someone 3 years can get it for 5k cheaper? Yea didn't think so.

Ragnarok Online II dated for 2010... finally

Dec 4th 2009 9:15PM (Massively)
Yea but thats also the wii we're talking about. A decent PC wouldn't have the same issues. Not to mention they've come a long way in the use of sprites. There's ways to have computer generated sprites, though technically there not sprites, but they look like it.

Not to mention there's more unique animations in one character of blazblue then all of RO1 (most likely). Its not like they have animations of skills linking together, each atk/skill is one unique animation, then add the fact that alot of skills reuse animations.

Ragnarok Online II dated for 2010... finally

The problem has and will always be that the game did NOT make a good transition from 2d to 3d. They took a game that was anime cute and made it ugly 3d wish-I-was cute. The character models are ugly and they defiled the classes. The game doesn't have the same soul that RO1 has and its evident in EVERY single video. The sad thing is that some of the ideas they had for RO2 was good. The Equipment system is ingenious and could be a lot of fun if combined with a good class system.

But really RO should have stayed 2d, they should have just updated the sprites to KOFXII or Blazblue style. They would have kept there huge and avid fanbase and won over some new ones with a crisper style.

Give me RO1 classes/skills, RO2 equipment system, WoW quest with WAR tracking, WAR Public quest and Lotro's skirmish system and you have my soul. Hell I played RO1 from when it was in alpha wayyy back in 2000 and played it off and on all the way until last year. Love that game.

Anti-Aionsed: This time I put the joke of the title before the colon pt. 2

How can you write a little mini review about the game when you've only gotten a few levels in.

And the one thing ffs none of you ever mention is that YOU GET A LONGER FLIGHT TIMER AS YOU GO THROUGH THE GAME. Your not perma stuck at 1minute. And when your PVPing having flying be limited is a godsend, because without mark my words you'd get 1 kill a day and that would be if your lucky.

And soul? The game has a soul. The real problem is that the game guards it close to its chest aka end game. Until there's enough people where there's a fortress battle every night and the abyss is awash with death you can't really say you've PLAYED the game. So much of it revolves around PVP that until you've started killing people your pratically still in the prologue.

Five reasons to play Aion (continued)

Sep 20th 2009 12:13AM (Massively)
Flight is not safty in Aion. There are enemies that will hit you in the sky, there are enemies that also fly. There are quest objectives, enemies, and even mining resources in the air. Aion takes the 2D realm and strechest to the 3D. There are instances where healers/caster are expect to fly up above the boss to ledges and such to stay out of aoe/danger.

I'll say it once and I'll say it agian. Most people have yet to truly experience Aion. There is a lot more things to be seen than what people have. Just as much as any MMO the early stages are always different from the later stages. Come 50 when people have fully developed their characters alot of the foolish negatives will die down as people finally get to see what they've simply heard of.

Five reasons to play Aion (continued)

Well man it seems like people have forgotten about that. Think about how much people want to solo now! MMO's we're forged around people playing together and having a sort of cyber village. It was exciting to group together and take on monsters and people. You formed a guild full of likeminded that you wanted to socialize with.

Now people change guilds every month and are made if they can't solo the entire content of a game. Why? Why? I can understand wanted to have content you can do when you don't have a group but somethings have gone to far.

Or even more so, why is that that console gamers are clamoring, YELLING for multiplayer games and MMO's yet the PC gamers want to run through a whole game without seeing a soul.

I can't tell you how many times I'd run into someone in wow who had never partied before cap. And they were horrible players because of it.

GROUPING SAVES LIVES.
