Saturn Vue Chevrolet Captiva Sport announced for U.S. fleet customers

Mar 12th 2011 9:59AM (Autoblog)
It was sold to American families, too, as the Saturn Vue, but with different powertrains.

I wonder if the Chevy Captiva Sport will be sourced from GM Daewoo/GM Korea like for the rest of the world? The Vue was sourced from GM's Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, and they're having a hard time keeping up with Cadillac SRX demand.

Chevy Camaro platform underpins new GM vehicle in Chicago

Feb 6th 2011 12:37PM (Autoblog)
Looking at the Chicago Auto Show media schedule, Chevrolet is the only GM division with any sort of press conference or media briefing listed. This only means that they're both going to be Chevys.

I'm willing to guess Camaro Z28 and the 2012 Malibu. The 2012 Malibu is almost certain to be a global vehicle that will be built in the US, South Korea, and (likely) China. The new 'Bu will replace both the GM Daewoo-sourced Chevrolet/Holden Epica sold overseas and the current North American Malibu.

Spy Shots: Is this the 2012 Honda Civic?

Feb 2nd 2011 7:47PM (Autoblog)
USDM non-hybrid Civics are built in Greensburg, Indiana (sedan only) and Alliston, Ontario, Canada (sedan & coupe). I don't think Honda imports any non-hybrid Civics from Japan.

That being said, USDM Civic Hybrids are built in Suzuka, Japan. This could very well be a shipment of USDM Civic Hybrids.

No surprise here. Especially with the wording on the VW site teaser.

Porsche to live stream new concept reveal in Detroit

Dec 27th 2010 3:13PM (Autoblog)
Now that Porsche is back in Detroit and under (mostly) VW ownership, will Porsche actually let you sit in the (production) cars at NAIAS this time?

I found it funny that Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, and even VW Group-owned Audi let you sit in their vehicles that were just as pricey, but Porsche didn't. Snob appeal, I guess.

BYD bringing electric E6 to U.S. in 2010 2011?

Chery, Brilliance, and other Chinese auto firms have used Italian design houses like Bertone, Pininfarina, and (pre-VW buyout) Italdesign for years. The Brilliance BS4/BS6 are designed by Italdesign, and Chery has enlisted Pininfarina to design the A3 and M14.

Chrysler dealer service departments workin' for the weekend?

Dec 9th 2010 10:44AM (Autoblog)
Most of the car dealers (except for the BMW dealer, oddly enough) here in Fort Wayne, Indiana have Saturday service hours.

Nothing new here.

Spy Shots: Are you the 2012 Volkswagen NMS?

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the all-new 2012 VW Avalon!

Beware of Trojan Disguising Itself as Microsoft Security Essentials

One of our computers at work got infected with the "AntiSpySafeguard" version of this. We couldn't even open up IE to do transactions, as our vendors typically require transactions in IE 6 or higher. We had to send a perfectly good Dell to computer heaven because of this.

And, before you ask, the PC did not have anti-virus software.

Report: RWD Ford Falcon could merge platforms with Mustang, not Taurus

Oct 5th 2010 10:39AM (Autoblog)
Per the book "Wheels for the World" (a book on FoMoCo from 1903-2003): Yes, the original Mustang was mostly Falcon underpinnings.

So this would be a reversal of fortune: a Falcon based on Mustang underpinnings.
