Chrome OS "panels" and Google Talk Chrome Web app go cross-platform

Feb 27th 2011 12:45AM (Download Squad)
@Hugh Isaacs II

Also the icon is wrong and if you search through the code for the official Google Talk app, it explicitly checks the user agent to see if Chrome OS is running not for the panel feature.

Plus the new experimental panel feature you mentioned isn't even enabled in Chrome OS, the one currently used in Chrome OS is really just a pop up window (all pop ups in Chrome OS are displayed as panels or tabs).

You guys installed the wrong app, the real app is titled Google Talk not GTalk and in the pics you show it's clearly the Google Talk Flash widget from iGoogle.

Google's Native Client updates to Pepper API, looks set to fragment the Web

You've got it all wrong.

Native Client will still be provided as an NPAPI plugin, it's just now Native Client modules won't support the NPAPI and is switching to the Pepper API.

@Sebastian Anthony

No, Native Client now only supports Pepper API modules. The plugin itself will be provided as an NPAPI plugin.

I don't see how you could compare Chrome with IE6 because of Native Client as.
1) Chrome supports web standards very well.
2) Native Client unlike Active X is also available as an NPAPI plugin for other browsers and OSes (this is something you missed in your article).

Also, Javascript will never be as fast as native code.

That still has nothing to do with the fact that Theora is in Google Chrome.

Fan projects are great an all, but honestly.

If you have the skills to make it, why not just create an original title?
