Google Open Spot alerts Android users to freed parking spaces

Jul 11th 2010 2:39PM (Engadget)
This is yet another "feel-good" technology for people to use and feel like they are helping. Gee, let me be kind to my fellow human by telling them this parking spot is open. When, in major areas like NYC, the spot is either taken quickly, too small, governed by complicated parking laws or is prime area for trucks to double-park.

Inexplicable rise in iPhone dev's App Store sales connected to iTunes account hacks? (update)

Jul 5th 2010 11:32AM (Engadget)
A couple of years ago, my account was hacked to purchase gift cards. Apple wouldn't help, PayPal wouldn't help, so I had to have my bank investigate the charge and refund me. I still use iTunes, but I no longer trust Apple with my payment information, so I use gift cards.

Swag Sunday: Bayonetta (360) [update]

Feb 7th 2010 2:23PM (Joystiq)
The one that comes to mind...is the song used in the commercial for Bayonetta. Annoying vocals.

Also, which game used an REM song in the commercial?

Apple scores high on customer experience index, iTunes not so much

Jan 15th 2010 8:39PM (TUAW.com)
Wonder if it has to do with Apple's blind eye towards the hacking of iTunes accounts, to purchase $50 and $100 gift certificates for resale on shady auction sites. After Apple refused to listen or give me any information to figure out where the transaction occured, I finally just gave the issue to my bank, who laughed and refunded my money.

Rock Band Weekly: Tom Petty, Phoenix, Silvertide

Jan 15th 2010 4:03PM (Joystiq)
Wow, Silvertide. They were a great band, in the vein of Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses. Problem is their label took forever to put the album out, and lack of advertisement. Kind of surprised they're on Rock Band as a result.

I want this so I can pretend I lost my Toshiba under a bus.

Samsung Moment unboxed!

Oct 21st 2009 10:42AM (Engadget)
Eagerly awaiting your impressions. My Motorola Q9c couldn't meet the business end of a hammer soon enough - $150 upgrade is on 11/1, and between this and the HTC Hero, I've got decisions. My brother is tempted to wait for the 4G phones, but I don't have the patience.

Devotec Solar Sound Bluetooth speaker hands-on and nano-review

Jul 23rd 2009 12:40PM (Engadget)
I've always had somewhat spotty issues with my two stereo bluetooth headphones. Songs at the same bitrate sound fine or sound thin, never too clear. And of course when I run, it makes the problem worse. As it is, I'm not a big fan of Bluetooth for audio quality, but it's a little easier. Especially for those of us locked into the taking-the-world-by-storm movement that is 2.5mm audio jacks.
