Wii impressions: Monkey Ball (minigames)

May 12th 2006 8:36AM (Joystiq)
Does the "then go play real darts" comment mean that the experience is quite poor and devoid of any skill?

I'm a very average darts player with no real interest in competitive levels. Still real darts is fun, while the $5.99 plastic children's sets are annoying (but partly because its hard to get them to stick on the board, or the target end is so thick that scoring is innacurate).

Does the darts game feel interesting or not? (Some of us dont have the access/space for real darts)

Spectator sports: competitive MMOs

Guildwars does a good job blending RPG with FPS. Hard on noobs though.

Wii controller impressions: day 2

I'm not sure I mind flicking wrist to throw behaviour. Does it at least feel as though you have control over how far you are throwing?

Wii impressions: Wii Sports -- Tennis

May 10th 2006 5:34PM (Joystiq)
If I get a wii, I will definitely get this game too. Because it will be a sports game my whole family has fun with.

On the other hand, I will want real sports games on the wii b4 I consider wii. If wii is any good, then you should be able to tele-control a tennis racket. Bounce a ball into the ground with it, feel dead shots, and so on. Games should have easy and hard control modes, even athletic versions where you need to have some space to move. wii squash would rule. I would welcome a game where for the first 30 minutes, I'm struggling with hitting a ball or keeping my balance.

Anyways I hope titles and play experiences with the controller that show off its sensitivity and responsiveness come up before launch.

Wii Twilight Princess in widescreen, GameCube in 4:3

Expect different prices for each version.
I'm sure the title was developed to push GC hardware to max, so widescreen version is the same as pushing a game from 640x480 to 800x600... graphics slowdown.

Joystiq hands-on: new PS3 controller

Sensitivity they can fix. Response time, they probably can't: Hardware limitation.

If the response time is ok, this controller could be very good for snowboard and skateboard games.

I'm thinking christmas 2008 is when I'd consider one though
