North Carolina deputy kills suspected PS3 thief and his dog [update 2]

Dec 4th 2006 1:15AM (Joystiq)
Yeah samfish, that's great. It really is.

I love how you wonder if the man involved was black. You would make Al Sharpton (one of the biggest and most pompous assholes in the world) proud.

Is jumping to conclusions something you do a lot? Because I never read anything about the police jumping in guns blazing.

And police shouldn't carry any lethal weapons? Awesome. Then I guess they should really fare well against those thugs in the streets with illegally procured pistols and rifles in the case of a shoot out. Oh, but I see that you allow the police to have guns in the most "dire of circumstances". Man, am I glad that the typical drug runner has the courtesy to announce his intent to fire upon the cops chasing at him.

"Alright boys, I have a 9mm right here in my hand and I'm going to start shooting so get your guns out. Oh wait, you have to go back to the station to get them? Oh no, no, don't worry about me, it's cool. I'll wait."

Somebody needs to get this guy to run for police Commissioner of New York. He'll do an incredible job.

WSJ concerned about Wii owner health

I remember how my mom always took away the little rockets that came with toys that could shoot. She was always afraid I would put an eye out or something. This sounds like the same thing.

Obsidian patches Neverwinter Nights 2

Seriously, the update vastly improved performance for me. And Anti Aliasing?

The game should have been shipped in this state. That's what you get when your publisher is scratching as hard as they can in order to stay out of the red.

Console war: How Sony lost exclusives

Ah, SkillCoil, very interesting post. Do you work for Ubisoft or have a friend from the company who tells you these things?

Mercury News: PS3? Wait and see

Zelda for Gamecube FTW!

Yes, I'm waiting two more weeks for a stripped down, wii-mote-less version of Zelda. Not because I want to, but because I bought a fucking Gamecube solely for the game, and I will not be denied!

Microsoft's Scott Henson on TV and movies

Nov 7th 2006 9:55PM (Joystiq)
So the PS3 gets flak for their supposed non-commitment to gaming, and then Microsoft gets praise for something just as profane?

I mean, this announcement is interesting and all, but I thought Microsoft was s'pposed to be "all hippin' and a-hoppin'" about HARDCORE GAMING(!!). Not TV.

So what's up intarweb?

Duck Hunt, others get ESRB's thumbs-up, zapper imminent

Nov 7th 2006 9:46PM (Joystiq)
To answer the question, no. That add-on looks so clunky and unwieldly... the controller by itself seems to be a better fit for a game like Duck Hunt.

Game systems get graded

Nov 6th 2006 9:51PM (Joystiq)
Ahh... I dunno guys. I have a DS Lite, and I haven't been playing it nearly as much as everyone tells me I should be. It's the only handheld I own, but it really only gets play whenever I'm on the go or at University, which even then isn't often.

I just don't get into the games nearly enough to appreciate the full value. Often times I'll buy a game, play it for a bit then lose interest (New Super Mario Bros is a HUGE example of this). I think the only game that's had me hooked was MegaManXZ, and that's only because it's a Mega Man game, with virtually the same formula used since the days of the SNES. (Which I love, by the way.)

But, I guess if you would look at it with a Christmas viewpoint, it should have a high grade.

I pretty much feel like the PS2 is the ultimate Christmas package for non-hardcore gamers. It's tried and true technology, with a solid game library in addition to some incredible PS1 era games. The Gamecube and the X-box are decent choices too, but the sorry state of support on the systems makes it hard for me to recommend over the PS2. Of course, in my book Zelda makes the GC worth it period, but I'm not sure the typical Christmas shopper would agree with me.

By the way, I'm buying Twilight Princess this Christmas for the 'Cube. Fuck Wii.

...(At least until Brawl comes out)...

Gears of War sequel, already?

Nov 6th 2006 9:35PM (Joystiq)
Ha ha, holy shit. I scroll down the comments section, and the names Nova and daver keep popping up.

I know you guys must religiously defend your console of choice, but I think one response (or no response, would be ideal) to retarded posters like that is sufficient.

Unless you're being a Grammar Nazi. Then it's ok. Because Grammar Nazi's rock. (I'm one of them.)
