EEDAR weighs in on NGP, speculates $299 to $349 price for Wi-Fi only model

Feb 3rd 2011 9:09PM (Joystiq)
One thing to consider: There will probably be product shortages at launch (a supply issue as much as demand), so they could price it high for at least six months, and profit from the early adopters. More price-sensitive folks will probably wait, and want to see more games anyway, so they can get on board in holiday season 2012, when more games are out.

Still, they probably don't want to be over $100 above the 3DS, so I'm guessing $350 is a good starting price for the wi-fi only.

Give me Madden, NBA 2K12, and Uncharted at launch and they probably can talk me into anything under $500. But less is better of course...

Two New Jersey Apple Stores to open for non-retail activity on Sundays

I live in Bergen County. I dislike the blue laws, because it seems to make traffic some much worse on Saturdays, especially during holiday season. But I guess I can understand that residents may not want to deal with that mess at the intersection of Route 17 and 4. At least the restaurants are open.

Sniff sniff, I can't believe big bad Rupert Murdock has an app!!! Jeez, as if Newsweek or the New York Times can't have an iPad app (oh yeah, the NYT does...). At least Murdoch isn't taxpayer funds to keep him in business like NPR does.

Top Spin 4 is Move compatible, but 'not Kinect'

Big flaw in Agassi's serve motion. He never slid his back foot forward. How can they miss that.

Love this series, btw. I wonder if they will keep the control scheme from Top Spin 3, which many found very difficult (for the record, I thought it was very realistic once you got the hang of it).

What about the WTA Legends? How about some Jennifer Capriati, Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Chris Evert, Martina Navratalova, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Gabriella Sabatini, or Lindsay Davenport? And dammit no Justine Henin?

I thought she made it from her role in "Demolition Man"... That movie is a timeless classic.

New tech puts ESPN anchors on video game gridiron

Weird. EA won't integrate the ESPN presentation into Madden, but ESPN is integrating Madden into NFL Countdown (and no, I don't think EA is the devil). I would kind of like to use the Hit Stick on Chris Mortensen.

Ugh: Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition exclusively at GameStop

Apr 10th 2008 11:56PM (Joystiq)
According to a lot of the haters, everyone participating in the industry is evil:

-Wal-Mart: Buys goods from China, puts mom-and-pop stores out of business, doesn't provide health care for employees
-Best Buy: Charges $100 for HDMI cables, expensive warranties
-GameStop - High-priced used games, expensive warranties, removal of shrink-wrap on new games
-Electronic Arts - Now a "monopoly" on football video games, micro-transactions
-Take-Two - A "monopoly" on MLB games, the poster child for violence in video games, Hot Coffee
-Ubisoft - Marginal upgrades in their "Ghost Recon" and Rainbow Six franchises that they milk every year, and worst of all, they're French
-Sony - Charges $599 for a console, the Memory Stick, now making you buy a new controller to get rumble, over-priced TVs
-Nintendo - Product shortages are on purpose, makes you buy a "classic" controller to play old games
-Microsoft - the ultimate monopoly, Vista, charges subscription fee for XBox Live
-All video game players - Prone to violence, obesity, and excessive name-calling in Halo 3 and CoD 4
