@ cyruss, actually yeah I don't watch TV for that reason.
"for those of you that don't know, a tv show is something you watch on your laptop"
and I don't read free papers for the same reason. bulk of it is ads, and there is no news.
Put it this way. I buy a game to have an awesome interactive experience. Something that is fun, exciting, new, imaginative. If I'm playing a game (and like Ubisoft said,) and all I'm thinking about is what deodorant I'm gonna buy next, it has ruined the effect of immersion in the game. Imagine if you were watching a one of COD2's epic cut scenes and in the middle of it the someone pulls out a bottle of sprite and starts drinking it like in the ads. It's bullshit. Advertising has it good points. billboards, Cable tv, the internet whatever. but to put it in a game. A GAME! it's a bit fucking ridiculous.
I don't know if you noticed but the XBOX dashboard only ever has ads for gaming related purposes, why because it's a game console. where you play games. if I'm sneaking up behind someone, or watching through a cutscene, or an animation, I don't want the focus of it to be an ad for Old Spice. What the fuck has that got to do with the game. nothing. thus it shouldn't be there.
My very first concert I went to was AC/DC, Rush and The Rolling Stones all in one. It was immense, and was dubbed SarsStock because of the amount of people in one area just when SARS was at it's biggest threat.
