I actually don't think Little Big Planet is that original. Right now it's the talk of the town, but it's a platformer with a stage editor; and from the gameplay footage, the game mechanics is like many games that we played from the SNES era.
I think that Nintendo did the right move to show off WiiFit at E3. Which one is going to generate bigger publicity for Wii - some Nintendo games that only hardcore gamers care about or a cute exercising gadget that makes all the Oprah-watching housewives through out the nation excited about?
Stop worrying. Nintendo will definitely make games for us - they will come. It's just that this E3 is not about those games. They are aiming for a bigger market right now.
#8: No matter what, the best looking Wii game will never beat a great looking PS3 game, it's a fact. Nintendo chose to make a profit on hardware from day 1 instead of winning the beauty pageant, but at least they have a great selling feature that they others don't have - the motion sensing controller. Gimmicky or not, Wii is flying off the shelves. I wouldn't mind giving Nintendo some face when they try to defend themselves for having the least powerful graphic chip.
Also, I don't think we have seen any games that have maximized Wii's hardware potential yet. Metroid and Mario are look stunning to me.
I wonder what kind of benefits did Microsoft give to the studio that makes the game Blue Dragon. I am pretty sure that no game studio besides Tecmo would make games for Xbox given its dismal sales. Same as Nintendo, how did they get Capcom to make Resident Evil "exclusives"?
Pay attention to the title of this blog post, which grabbed your attention. I think Nintendo is smart. Immediately you associate Wii as a better console which is capable of displaying games in widescreen format. It doesn't say HD, but people who has recently acquired a new TV would probably tell his friends, "I have just got a wide screen TV", not "a HD TV". Gamecube can do widescreen, but they dumb down Zelda GC to just 4x3. Nothing to lose, Gamecube is already dying when Nintendo releases Wii. Such move is a smart marketing decision, imo.
