Nov 22nd 2011 3:55PM (Joystiq)Any studio with decent asset management can get an intern to dig up the original, uncompressed, full-palette textures and re-sample audio from the music/speech session DATs. Re-encoding assets and adjusting swizzling assumptions from there, in addition to increasing the native rendering resolution, should be relatively straightforward from there. When coming from Xbox1 games, the PS3 has an advantage since it also has an NVidia GPU and the same fixed-function shaders can be used as well to save a little time (though we would all prefer modern shaders) ;)
Jak and Daxter Collection coming in February 2012
Nov 21st 2011 5:20PM (Joystiq)If anyone can do this properly, providing the original uncompressed art and audio assets for optimal encoding and placement for current-gen hardware, it's Naughty Dog. If they also disappoint, I'll just stick with upscaling emulators as I cannot abide lazy cash-ins.

Nov 10th 2011 4:44PM (Joystiq)Was that so hard? Glad to see the influence of Capybara Games and Klei making its way to Ubisoft and others.
For games that have fine-grained animation cycles, network latency is a killer for decent online co-op. I personally prefer higher quality art and animations at the cost of having no online co-op.
Capcom sales down year-over-year, due to lack of 'major titles'
Nov 8th 2011 3:59PM (Joystiq)srsly, though, I would pay $50 apiece for those two games if they were properly ported to PS3 with real native HD rendering and higher quality audio. (Unlike the *awful* looking cash-in ports of Resident Evil, No More Heroes, etc.)
