My first dance with Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien

Please give us the original Bit.Trip trilogy on PS3 with HD audio!

Jet Set Radio HD retains US-version content, half of original track list

I hope they re-author some of the more egregiously bad textures and models this time. Space Channel 5 was cool to play again, but all the anti-aliasing in the world doesn't help how bad those ultra-low-poly models and hyper-compressed textures look on 50" HDTVs.

It doesn't take much retouching to make these games more palatable.

Crush3D: A second look in the third dimension

I'd love to see this on PSN, stereoscopic 3D or not. In fact, I'd prefer 1080p native visuals with MSAA. Make it happen, Sega!

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc coming to XBLA/PSN next Spring

Looks really great, and I'm glad to hear they're taking audio quality seriously. They really screwed up the Prince of Persia HD Collection by retaining those awful-sounding 11khz samples and not using realtime 24-bit echo/reverb.

Any studio with decent asset management can get an intern to dig up the original, uncompressed, full-palette textures and re-sample audio from the music/speech session DATs. Re-encoding assets and adjusting swizzling assumptions from there, in addition to increasing the native rendering resolution, should be relatively straightforward from there. When coming from Xbox1 games, the PS3 has an advantage since it also has an NVidia GPU and the same fixed-function shaders can be used as well to save a little time (though we would all prefer modern shaders) ;)

Jak and Daxter Collection coming in February 2012

Nov 21st 2011 5:20PM (Joystiq)
It looks like there's a bit of model improvement, especially noticeable higher poly counts on the heads. Hopefully they re-encode the original audio assets, as awful audio quality was the worst disappointment of nearly all the HD Collection releases thus far. Ico tried to cheat with interesting EQ, but everything still sounded weak and hollow, like the audio assets were 11khz or something. It was the same with Prince of Persia The Sands of Time :(

If anyone can do this properly, providing the original uncompressed art and audio assets for optimal encoding and placement for current-gen hardware, it's Naughty Dog. If they also disappoint, I'll just stick with upscaling emulators as I cannot abide lazy cash-ins.

Rayman Origins review: Everybody loves Rayman

Nov 10th 2011 4:44PM (Joystiq)
A solid platformer with tons of charm and a focus on true HD animation? SOLD.

Was that so hard? Glad to see the influence of Capybara Games and Klei making its way to Ubisoft and others.

For games that have fine-grained animation cycles, network latency is a killer for decent online co-op. I personally prefer higher quality art and animations at the cost of having no online co-op.

Capcom sales down year-over-year, due to lack of 'major titles'

Nov 8th 2011 3:59PM (Joystiq)
Well, if they had brought Okami and Zak & Wiki to PS3 in 1080p native Move editions, that would have helped ;)

srsly, though, I would pay $50 apiece for those two games if they were properly ported to PS3 with real native HD rendering and higher quality audio. (Unlike the *awful* looking cash-in ports of Resident Evil, No More Heroes, etc.)

Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) now on GOG

Nov 8th 2011 3:50PM (Joystiq)
I would love, love, love to see this (and Omikron!) re-released in an "HD" version on PSN. Indigo Prophecy was one of my favorite Xbox1 titles.
