Resident Evil 4, Mega64-style

How fat is that person? Seriously.

DS gets 'Point Blank' tap, light gun not required

"simple, addictive fun"

It's good some of the time. But that's exactly why I haven't purchased a DS yet. Too much "simple addictive fun", not enough adventure/platform/sports/action games. Then again, I haven't bought a PSP either, but its has a GTA, Syphon Filter, Winning Eleven, Daxter, Katamari, Virtua Tennis, SSX. That's more what -I- am interested in.

Some Wario Ware is good though too.

PS3's rumored backcompat solution: a PS2 inside

Jun 5th 2006 6:27PM (Joystiq)
I was really looking forward to software emulation in the PS3 just so all the games could be rendered at higher resolutions (720p). Especially with a majority of HDTVs handling the older interlaced video signals poorly, I was really looking forward to this feature.

It's not a deal breaker for me though, just too bad. I already have a PS2, I personally don't care about having another one in my PS3... unless it's going to re-render the graphics.

Czechs win 2006 World Cup! (sort of)

I think this is just further evidence of how far inferior FIFA is to Winning Eleven. :)

Go England!

Xbox BC not a priority, says Moore

Jun 1st 2006 2:34PM (Joystiq)
I'm tired of disconnected industry execs telling us what we are or are not interested in.

- Bill Gates saying that people aren't interested in motion sensing
- Peter Moore saying we aren't interested backwards compatibity.
- Nintendo saying that gamers are not interested in hd-resolutions, realistic graphics, and real world physics.
- And then some crackhead at Sony telling us that we're going to buy the PS3, even if there aren't any games.

Which is funny because I'm very interested in everything that they say I'm not!

I'm not sure if Sony will follow through on it, but they said that the PS3 would re-render all PS2 games at HD resolutions with its emulator. I've used PSOne emu's on the computer that render the PSOne games in high resolution, so I know the PS3 could do it as well.. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to have Sony come through.

Return of the Dreamcast ... sort of [update 1]

May 31st 2006 5:07PM (Joystiq)
I remember reading an EGM Buyers Guide for the Christmas season of, I don't know 2001/02/03? They rated each system and their potential forecasts out of 10. The PS2 got a 9/10 and the Dreamcast got -9.5/10-!

I love my Dreamcast, and when I got my HD TV I bought a VGA adapter for my Dreamcast (my tv has 2 vga ports) and now I'm loving my dreamcast all over again in 50" 480p.

Daytona USA Championship Edition, Seaman (!), Tony Hawk 2 (the best TH on any system), Giant Gram 2000, Fire Pro D, Jet Grind Radio, Virtua Tennis 2k2, Mars Matrix, Samba De Amigo, Shenmue, RE: Code Veronica, Crazy Taxi... that's not say nothing of Dreamcasts awesome list of fighters VF3 TB, Soul Calibur, SFA3, SF3, DOA 2:LE, Powerstone 2, Marvel v. Capcom 2, Last Blade, Mark Of The Wolves...

We have Typing Of The Dead and god damn fishing rod for the system!!!

Such a good system. Had such good games.

With all this PS3/360/Wii clusterf--k, I've more than once wished Sega would get back into the console business. Please Sega please. :)

Joystiq poll: Will the PS3 price affect your console combo?

May 28th 2006 11:28PM (Joystiq)
On Slashdot.org, a far more neutral site in terms of video games and readership had a post E3 console poll http://slashdot.org/pollBooth.pl?qid=1341&aid=-1 And it resulted in:

PS3 15%
Wii 50%
360 10%
undecided/none 22%

So while Wii with its cheaper price and innovation still has a lot of favor coming out of E3, the PS3 still trumps the 360.

Joystiq's polls always skew largley in Nintendo's favor. Which is fine, but the site also has been rampant with anti-PS3 sentiment. If not in the articles themselves, in the users comments on stories relating to the PS3.

All I'm saying is that polls on Joystiq do not exactly reflect the real world outcomes, much in the same way a poll on teamxbox would favor the 360 (but not quite as bias)

Star Fox DS now 'Star Fox Command'

May 27th 2006 5:09AM (Joystiq)
Did anyone see how BAD (like REALLY BAD) the explosions look in this game? At E3 they were just gigantic pixelly bitmaps. They looked extremely out of place in the game and completely ruined the cohesion of the experience. I hope they fix them, because when the whole point of a game if blowing things up the explosions can't look like that game from the 32X... er, Sega Genesis.

DAMN IT I wish Sega still have a console out. Damn it.

Updated GP2X handheld, MKII, shipping now

May 23rd 2006 2:10AM (Joystiq)
I had an old GP32. It ruled. I'd love to get another one these newer models but I already have a PSP and I think that I can make good use of that still.

No HDMI on PS3 not a problem until 2010?

May 22nd 2006 6:56PM (Joystiq)
Anyone who has seen 480p v. 480i (you can see for yourself on most xbox and ps2 games) knows that -progressive scan- content is visibily superior to -interlaced- content. If it progressive scan wasn't superior, one might wonder why it was invented in the first place.
