Xbox 360 to embrace motion controls? Probably not.
Feb 27th 2007 4:02PM (Joystiq)The beauty of all this is that I can take comfort in knowing my social life doesn't cling to wether or not a developer "makes it playable online".

Feb 27th 2007 3:45PM (Joystiq)Surely you don't believe there are enough idiot parents who believe their child should have blu-ray just because they ask for it do you?
Nevermind that... kids won't ask for it anyways. Not until it's slim an under 200 bucks.

Feb 27th 2007 3:39PM (Joystiq)Everyones preference is justified but the "hate" is really weird. IS my Wii kiddy? Sure, why not? I am at a point where it fits better for my current situation which is married with kids. I like trauma center and rayman. I like phoenix wright and elite beat agents.
Truthfully it's all because of the light hearted fun that I can squeese into a normally busy schedule. I still find time for some nba live and fight night too (xbox 360).

Feb 27th 2007 1:56PM (Joystiq)Some games are supposed to be shallow. Anyone calling Tetris repetitive? Far Cry is garbage and I don't use my Wii to "Vote". I get it, friend codes suck but Zelda was great as was a couple of others. At launch that's all I ask of all my systems.

Feb 27th 2007 1:48PM (Joystiq)Besides that, I've not gone a generation where I didn't own all of the systems. Safari Hunt was superior to Duck Hunt, but TECMO bowl kicked ass. I bought both.
Nothing changed this time around. I wanted the boomerang controller from sony but the sixaxis is great. The new L2 and R2 buttons are great and it's effectively a wireless first party controller from Sony which I would have bought in a heart beat for PS2.
XBox360 has the greatest "standard" controller yet in terms of comfort, but the directional pad sucks. The online service is great. The faceplates are a good feature. It's a great machine.
This generation unlike any before brought REAL innovation to the table. I'm happy with all three and sure to become more satisfied as time passes.

Feb 27th 2007 1:38PM (Joystiq)Nintendo stock falls after Japanese gov sells its shares
Feb 26th 2007 2:03PM (Joystiq)A good portion of stock value comes from transactions that take place (Obviously company performance counts too). If I can push an assload of stock to someone above the current pricing on the basis of future valuation then the average price goes up and it's basically a self fulfilling prophecy.
Everyone benefits. Having big chunks of stock that will not move because it's held by one entity is like not being publicly held in the first place. Thus the term "fluidity" and why they'd ask the gov't to part ways with their share. The gov't probably bought in solely to stabilize a creaky market and now that they have all of this current success, releasing the shares to the public again will in fact drive prices up long term.
Hope this helps. @Erwos Sorry if I came off harsh, I just felt that anyone who knew anything about finance would see that it's a reasonable even if not the "common" solution.
I'm hoping it prevents fanboys from spelling out disaster on Nintendo's end.

Feb 26th 2007 12:45PM (Joystiq)Call me when they ask their general shareholder to call it quits in the midst of soaring stock prices.
Nintendo stock falls after Japanese gov sells its shares
Feb 26th 2007 12:42PM (Joystiq)RTA. Don't armchair analyze. There is a reason professionals are professionals. It's because they have other ways of dealing with situations than what's commonly known.
Sometimes not splitting stock is the best long term solution. Supply and demand.
