Quarter gobblers are broken on XBLA [update 2]

Dec 30th 2006 2:43PM (Joystiq)
Here I was thinking that VC was finally fired and now he is back with more crap (I was beginning to enjoy the calm). And no, he doesn't work for EA. He work(ed?) for Microsoft (the guys who introduced microtransactions to consoles). Probably preparing us for the time when MS does implement it.

Core gamers have heavy impact on economy [update 1]

Oct 3rd 2006 5:43PM (Joystiq)
From what I read the whole study just meant that heavy gamers spend more than casual gamers per person. As a whole I am sure casual gamers spend way more than heavy gamers.

But then non-gamers (which the study ignored) probably have a heavier impact on the economy.

Hey Nintendo, make the switch to paper boxes permanent!

Sep 29th 2006 10:22AM (Joystiq)
Actually I agree with VC on this subject (though I have to stress, only this one). DS (US/Japan) cases are nice, but if Nintendo (and others) would provide durable cardbox cases (ie. digipacks) made from recycled material then I would be all over it. Having said that, recycling technology has gotten better and DS cases, like some plastic cases are recycleable.

And just because some of you don't care (about the environment), many of us do.

First-party Wii games will be region-free [update 2]

Sep 14th 2006 4:18PM (Joystiq)
@MC,

I suspect that they are limiting downloads to SD due to the DRM nature of SD cards. Each game downloaded could be tied to a SD card so as not to allow owners to copy them to other cards. I could be wrong but if this is their reason it would make sense.

European launch of PlayStation 3 delayed until March 2007

Europe gets shafted. Again. Not that I care though. Nintendo better not repeat the same mistake.

Britain OKs Dead Rising violence

Aug 10th 2006 6:35PM (Joystiq)
Why do all Joystiq bloggers make the same mistake of refering to Britain as England?

Wii Trauma Center a remake, not a sequel

Jul 27th 2006 4:57PM (Joystiq)
Not new news. When the game was announced at E3 everyone knew it was a remake. I am quite surprised Joystiq missed that.

Nintendo: "We are not aware of any problems with the hinge of the DS Lite"

Jul 18th 2006 4:17PM (Joystiq)
I doubt it is a design flaw as both our DS Lites, imported in April, has ZERO cracks. And we have been gaming on them at least an hour a day each.

If there is a flaw it is probably a manufacturing one with one of their factories, or a problem down the supply chain.

"Turbo" button makes a return with DS Lite on steroids

ARM processors can be overclocked well without suffering from overheating. The problem isn't heat but battery life and stability. My HTC Wizard has a 195Mhz ARM (OMAP) and I constantly overclock it to 240Mhz.

Epic's Mark Rein: Intel is killing PC Gaming

Jul 12th 2006 9:13AM (Joystiq)
As much as I dislike Intel, I disagree with Mark. People want a choice and if people want to game, they will purchase a graphic card.

What Intel and other mobo manufactures are doing by providing integrated graphics are so people can enjoy reasonable light 3D and 2D applications straight out of the box.

It is pointless (and enviromentally unfriendly) to include graphic accelerators in budget priced mobos if your average dad or mum isn't going to use them.

And as Wedge said, it does provide a nice backup if your graphic accelerator dies.
