While i think its "nice" and "polite" and all of you to say "go easy on the religions, even if you dont believe in them", this is bulls*** reasoning. why should anyone be easy on a group of people that believe in something because the "proof" of truth of these claims is something that can only be derived from believing in the text that provides the "proof" only in itself? "I believe in the bible because it is the holy word of god because thats what the bible says it is". WTH? In which other line of argument would any of you accept souch a bullsh** line of "reasoning"? yeah right, nowhere. but because we are all "sensitive, polite people" that try too fing hard not to step on any ones toes and call bullshit on religion because you could "offend" someone for telling them that believing in unsubstantiated claims (by anything other than some kind of institutionalized make believe) is a) a wrong approach to ANYTHING and b) brings you nowhere in live or any argument other than in you brand of church/religion, is somehow "bad" and a thing that "one does not do".
sometimes i dont get my fellow man/our culture of apologetics at all. it just makes me sad how little some people sometimes think it is necessary to think and act accordingly.
there is a difference between a "perfect launch" and a major screwup, no?
Having to take off half to three quarters of the service (account login/account pages/registration) just to calculate all the code-validations (which could have been validated days before) is telling me that they did invest about half my monthly wage in hardware that is dedicated to these processes.
do it either way - good or not at all. this should have been their "trust us, we are good at what we do and are not AoC" moment. This is as much a marketing moment as a "selftest" for them. And they just did an epic oops in both regards.
I cant understand that - a swbug that takes a while to fix is one thing, and one that i would not loose one word over. admitting on the page that they cant calculate hardwareneeds is quite another thing (and outlook? hope not.)
Im by no means saying that the launch experience has to be the same or anywhere near this, but not calling this an epic fail (technical and marketing) would be a lie.
how can you use a completely flashbased site for something (anything) that more than 10 users will use at any given time?
"ouch, where did all that users come from?" - "dunno, but they cant do anything at our site for the next 48 hrs" - "yeah, sounds good. wait didnt we launch something today or so?" - "nah dont sweat it, noone will care, so why should we have been prepared at all?"
witty. no, really, you obviously put a lot of thought into that one. thats the thing i like most about the internet, everyone is trying really hard to contribute in a way to make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone!
coming from germany i just laughed my ass off - and i wanna hear every one of my favourite podcasters to give it at least one shot in (on?) the next cast. cmon, its not like you are too professional for this kind of playground-dare, right? :) best podcast ever btw!!!!11elf
Kay, nice tech and all - but how do i mach the tons of photos of women to the actual burka-wearing person in my vicinity??? the whole lifting-the-burka-up-to-look - isnt that what was supposed to be avoided by this?
