Jul 22nd 2011 1:35PM (Joystiq)"how do you put Double Fine in that XBLA limit? they have a huge history with retail. "
How do you see DF having a "huge" history at retail? They've only release two games ever that have been in retail, Psychonauts and BrĂ¼tal Legend, two games that while I personally love and bought on day one, bombed at retail and sold very poor.
Both companies have followed a similar new way of them making money and staying afloat, by making short quick downloadable games that sell well but don't cost that much to develop so in turn are considered successful. Both companies going back to this retail, instead of download, way of delivering their games is not a smart decision in some way, maybe it works for them and I hope it does, but for me, if Gunslinger would have release at 1200 pts ($15), I would have bought it as I have bought all their XBLA games before, but at $40, I will not buy their game since I am not interested is some of that stuff, so thus, they loose a costumer/sale by making this a retail release and not downloadable as well. MS is asking them to make this retail since they need to bump up the Kinect library, but this only hurts the developer Twisted Pixel by loosing sales (not that Gunslinger would have sold that well anyway, its a kinect-only game, limiting the demographics in and of itself by not supporting a standard controller)
