Aug 12th 2010 10:31PM (Engadget)But hey, he already developed Rage on the PC, didn't he? THAT is fragmentation. The Android scene is a model of unification compared to PC dev.
Anyway, this is Carmack - he's well-known for supporting open platforms like OpenGL and Linux. I have zero doubt that he'll bring it to Android as well.

Jul 27th 2010 11:09PM (Engadget)You seem to forget, it's an *option*. All 3D can be viewed perfectly well in 2D, if you prefer. Nobody's forcing you to buy a new TV, and nobody's forcing you to watch *everything* in 3D if you did. Just relax, watch it however you want, and let others enjoy their choices too.

Jun 17th 2010 3:56AM (Engadget)PlayStation 3 in 3D impressions: almost, but not quite
Jun 17th 2010 1:55AM (Engadget)hdmi.org yanked their 1.3a spec download a while back, but according to Silicon Image's paper, 1080p @ 120Hz is specifically supported (and 720p @ 240Hz). This isn't flagged as a 3D signal specifically, but the TV can interpret it as such and the hardware is clearly capable.
I'd agree that the PS3's GPU isn't up to the task of doing 1080p @ 120Hz and actually looking nice at the same time. But that's the hook for the next-gen consoles, isn't it?
