Sep 4th 2007 5:00PM (Joystiq Playstation)Naughty Dog's PS3 game revealed, kind of
Aug 16th 2006 3:17PM (Joystiq Playstation)Wow the first paragraph of the article is almost a verbatim excerpt of the article in IGN...anyway the game really looks great and it may actually be the game that I'm expecting the most for ps3 (it being a new franchise makes it more interesting). After seeing the internal name of the game my expectations for it have grown. Just think of how huge the game worlds of the Jak series were...and now the team that did those games is calling this game "big"...after the games they've done the fact that they consider this one to be big (so big to call it that way) is really exciting because it means that the game world must be freakin huge ( maybe multiple islands/jungles? who knows)
Mercenaries 2 uses 30% of PS3, but is that a surprise?

Microsoft lacks confidence in Japan, losing next-gen battle without competition
Jul 13th 2006 2:32PM (Joystiq)If the Japanese where as natinalistic as some claim to be then the Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo Gamecube wouldn't have sell as horrible as they did in that country. And do you realize that the biggest selling territory of the ps2 is the United States of America?
I also believe it is completely stupid and insane to mix nationalism with consumerism. These companies care only about money, if it didn't make economic sense they wouldn't release any console. Don't think Microsoft is doing a system for the american people...they are doing a system that hopes to grab a hold of the largest gaming market which just happens to be the American market. So stop mixing nationalism with capitalism Xbox360Dude (although your goverment sadly has let the corporations do exactly that) it just makes you seem very naive and childish.
Sadly we have to come to understand that on the current world everything is ultimately determined by money. It has become our limiting factor instead of just being a tool for trade.
Itagaki confesses to drinking on the job
Jul 6th 2006 12:36PM (Joystiq)Itakagi once said that he developed games for the X-Box only because it was the most powerful system at the time. He said he didn't have any sort of allegiance with MS, it's just that he will only develop games for the most powerful system at a given time.
Now if the PS3 manages to be more powerful than the 360, then games like Ninja Gaiden 2 should come to Sony's platform. Even if the system manages to be only like 5% more powerful than the 360, he should do it on the PS3...if he is really a man of his word. And he has kept that word in the sense that he first did DOA2 on the DC at the time the most powerful system...then he did DOA2 Hardcore for the PS2 at the time also the most powerful system...and then when the X-box came out he stayed there.
Maybe he is developing games for the 360 now because it is the most powerful on the market at this time, and maybe when the PS3 launches he'll develop for that system. Come to think of it maybe that's why he still hasn't announced a system for Ninja Gaiden 2...or maybe he was just drunk when he said the statement about developing fot the best console.
Anyway I can't wait for a next-gen Ninja Gaiden it should be awesome.
Up to 7,000 PSOne-to-PSP titles by 2007, reports UK PSP Magazine
Jun 28th 2006 1:41PM (Joystiq)I'm expecting to be able to play a few titles that were considered great but that never came stateside. Tobal No.2 is the top one on that list...I never got to play it but every critic said it was the best fighting game on the ps1. I hope we could buy that one for the psp.
I'm actually playing Chrono Cross right now and that game doesn't have any aging problems. The story rocks, graphics are good and the gameplay even manages to be innovative even today. I'm sure there are more hidden gems like these one on the ps1 library. (Eihander on the go would be great!)
New TiVoToGo automates PSP support; low-res still
Jun 24th 2006 1:18AM (Joystiq)I believe both are great systems. The DS had an ultra low start and now developers are putting great games on it (not exactly groundbreaking games impossible to do on another system but great games nonetheless). The PSP is starting to pick up steam now and it should really bloom when developers realize they have to stop doing ports for the system. Granted the DS has maybe the same amount of ports as the PSP but since the DS are so inferior to the consoles versions maybe we don't even notice them. I really hope developers start doing some new stuff for the psp thats really designed with gaming on the go in mind. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to make the psp with only one analog stick as this will maybe force developers to forget straight ports altogether someday.
The future looks bright for both systems and I'm looking forward to see what they will offer. On another note I can't wait for Loco Roco, MGS Portable OPS and Valkarie Profile for the psp.

Jun 22nd 2006 12:54AM (Joystiq Playstation)Joystiq Poll: Blu-ray, yay or nay?
Jun 16th 2006 3:02PM (Joystiq)Why do you guys keep comparing the premium 360 with the high end PS3? The comparison should be between the premium 360 and the low-end PS3. Those two consoles offer the same features in terms of hardware. The only difference being the possibility to play blu-ray movies on the ps3 and having games on blu-ray discs. Both consoles offer the same features: 20gig HDD, wireless controllers and component video outputs. So you are basically paying $100 more for the Blu-Ray. Most of you already said that you would buy a stand alone BR player for $150 or the HD-DVD add on for $150-$200.
So really what's the deal? If you ae willing to pay for an add-on that doesn't offer any sort of possibities for gaming or a stand alone player you shouldn't really be arguing about the extra $100 you'll pay for the ps3.
