Rumor: Sonic 4 screens and footage leaked

Feb 17th 2010 12:03AM (Joystiq)
@ Not THAT Matt,

Actually, it's going to be download only, so you won't really have a chance to hold a case for it. Sorry, man. It kinda disappoints me, too.

Peace,

Swag Sunday: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Wii) [update]

Feb 14th 2010 10:28PM (Joystiq)
Really, really, really, really want this game. . . .

My airship name of choice would probably be something along the lines of "Paradise 7."

I say something along those lines because my rationale is really just that I would want the name to be evocative of a nice place to be. I'm sure those airship crew members get pretty lonely out there all alone in the wild blue vistas and having a positive sounding name for their moving home would help. Plus "Paradise 7" sounds like a name Square-Enix would come up with and I'm all about authenticity.

No kidding, really? That seems like a really bad idea!

@Brian

Chastity or purity rings are largely found in non-denominational Christian circles more than Catholic circles so I find it strange that Catholic-bashing was your first instinct. Furthermore, you obviously have no knowledge of Catholic sexual ethics, so it would appear that someone in this comment thread is indeed ignorant AND ALSO hypocritical. . . .

Indie devs struggle to find the perfect iPhone price

Jan 14th 2010 2:42AM (Joystiq)
It really comes down to the game for me. I would have no problem paying ten dollars for a game that will give me a fun, immersive and reasonably long experience. The way I figure it, a game that is roughly as big as a DS game (priced between twenty and thirty dollars on average) seems reasonable at ten dollars because you're cutting out the middle-man and the packaging. The problem is, there are a lot of games that just don't have that same level of depth and are sold at a much lower price. That seems to be pushing down the price of the larger games. Now that the larger games are between three and seven dollars, most smaller games' prices are being pushed down. Canabalt is a fun game but it does not offer the kind of depth that warrants a price point matching that of much larger and more fulfilling games. What Canabalt does it does well, but it's a pick up and play time-killer--not an RPG. If a much larger game is going for three dollars, it would not seem a wise investment to put down the same price for such a smaller and more simple game.

Swag Sunday: Band Hero for everything Nintendo [update]

I think "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2" caught my attention the most. The original game had so much game design potential that was untapped. I think a sequel will do it justice. I just hope the story is as good as the first game's story was.

Mass: We Pray is almost certainly a hoax

Nov 18th 2009 6:04PM (Joystiq)
Wow,

I really hope that you were just trying to instigate something and not actually serious because then . . . well, I don't even know where to begin. . . .

Sigh, come now people. This has to be a joke. There's nothing about Wii Pray that smacks of reality. Let's focus on that and leave attacks on religions out of this. Such a response is either the goal of those who put this together or it's not, but either way reacting that way is petty (a word which here means, "small-minded").

Iwata: DSi XL is a spectator system

Nov 1st 2009 12:06AM (Joystiq)
Actually,

I think I would buy this. I play my DS a lot at home. I have a DS Lite so I would just use that if I'm going somewhere and have this for playing games at home. I'd like to have a larger screen to play on. Plus my wife enjoys watching me play, so it would be nice to make that a little easier for her.

THQ forcing Star Wars: Trench Run onto iPhone

Oct 28th 2009 9:13PM (Joystiq)
mahouneko,

It appears that you can also play as a TIE Fighter against the Rebellion. Watch the video again, most of the gameplay shows the cockpit of an X-Wing. The TIE cockpit is only later.

THQ forcing Star Wars: Trench Run onto iPhone

Oct 28th 2009 9:12PM (Joystiq)
snowleopard233,

If you stick with the free or cheap games, you'll probably take away that opinion. I've found, however, that if you pony up for the quality productions out there, nine times out of ten, you get a really solid experience. Sometimes those quality productions are still under ten bucks, but I think you have to do some digging. Still, there are some games on the platform that give PSP and DS games a run for their money, in my opinion.

Peace,

manaman
