Mass Effect 3 will/won't have multiplayer, part 6: PC PowerPlay edition [update 2: it's co-op]

@Apsac D

Based on the reviews, community, and overall reception, most people seem to disagree with you.

PSA: PSN is down, Sony's 'working to resolve the issue' [update: it's back]

"When did I ever say somebody was stupid for caring its down?"

You basically did just that with this paragraph-

"Come on people, it's just a temporary service outage. This kind of stuff happens all the time. Really, it's not that big of a deal. Try going outside, getting some sun, or- GASP! Playing a... Singleplayer game? "

It is impossible to take this comment as anything but condescending to anyone who does care about it being down. And it's the way you meant it, so don't try saying otherwise.
You may have used an "expression", but you used it in conjunction with comments that indicate you really felt that way and others didn't (I can live without it and you guys are dumb for acting like you can't).
Don't try to change your rhetoric now and take offense when someone tells you to chill and take a more balanced view of the situation, as well as life.

I'm not saying that they weren't overreacting, but I again posit that your lack of caring and attitude towards those that did was incorrect as well.

It's pathetic to attack someone's reading comprehension as your only means of defense when you're called out on being a douchebag. Try talking on point instead of turning into a huffy loser.

"Personally, I don't even care. I have just as much fun playing Botzone on Killzone 3 as I do playing with Ming over in Taiwan. If the service is down for an extended period of time, the only features I'll miss are being able to download demos and seeing hints in Demon's Souls. Aside from that, I'll live."

I was addressing this paragraph, where you attempt to paint the service being down as 'not a big deal' and 'unnecessary to enjoy playing games'.

All I was saying is that while most people's view here is extreme and unreasonable (the world is ending), your view is the other extreme (no one should care about service outages) and not much better.

I was merely trying to say that it should be somewhere in between. Acting so cavalier and saying 'you guys are stupid for caring that it's down' is an unrealistic viewpoint, if not outright dangerous.

This isn't a "things you need to live" website. It's a video gaming website.

We're all quite aware that the PSN doesn't need to work for us to go on living.
It does, however, need to work if we're to continue playing online games on the platform and enjoying the connected features.

I agree, it's not the end of the world. But it's not nothing either.

If anything, it's responsible to report such things. How long will someone at home mess with their PS3 and curse their ISP for their console not being able to get online before they hit the net and see that it's down?
Isn't it better to let the masses know it's down than for them to send explosive devices to their friendly neighborhood internet service provider?

Acutally....

All Dance Central tracks export to DC2 with $5 cover

I always appreciated this capability in RB.

It turns the overall series of products in to a platform you can feel good about investing in.
By Rockband 3, you could have a beast of a list of songs to choose from, without even considering all of the awesome DLC song packs that are released regularly.

Bravo, Harmonix.

Gears of War 3 will have 'live' TV ads in the UK

Sep 21st 2011 12:05PM (Joystiq)
I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, but you can bet these ads will get pulled (or atleast the stats) the moment this game drops to less than one or two hundred thousand players daily.

I admit that this ads' life cycle is likely shorter than it will take for that to happen... but you can bet that they'll do all they can to prevent themselves from advertising low numbers.

oops, meant to use COD as the example for the "same every time" sentiment. But I think you get my drift.

@PantsParty

I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiment. I myself enjoyed the COD series till they wanted to sell me one every year and each one was riddled with exploiting and JBOD'ing dickholes.

However... I do not envy the position developers of established franchises- it's a no-win proposition for them. Do they change the game to attempt to appeal to those that bitch about the 'same ole thing'?
Or do they try to stay true to their fans and give them more of what they enjoy?

I don't know what the answer is, but devs lose every time.

They either have fanboys bitch about how their favorite game changed too much (Halo: Reach), or the rest of the community bitches about how it's the same every time.

They can't win with you people.

(that's right, i said it. YOU PEOPLE)

European Xbox boss not feeling pressured to cut 360 price

@Bro

Couldn't you say the same about the Wii, given it's hardware?

I do agree though- a year of XBL gold with a new console purchase is a great idea. Get them hooked so they'll want to pay when it expires. This is the sort of strategy MS has never really understood, but it works very well.
