Darksiders 2 video shows "God"-like combat skill
Jun 16th 2011 4:59PM (Joystiq)My reading comprehension sucks.
Also, reply fail.
Darksiders 2 video shows "God"-like combat skill
Jun 16th 2011 4:53PM (Joystiq)Conan plagiarized God of War.
Darksiders took the Zelda format almost exactly and gave it visceral combat (which yes, happens to look alot like God of War's combat).
Darksiders is deep enough with plenty of other inspiration from other games to distinguish itself from GoW. I think it's hardly fair to claim they plagiarized it.
E3 2011 Prediction Bingo: Microsoft
Jun 2nd 2011 5:57PM (Joystiq)I love you so much.
The Guild Counsel: I have a complaint!
May 13th 2011 12:37PM (Massively)You seem far too narrow minded (or simply full of yourself) to think people can only find and build leadership qualities in a 'professional' setting.
Organizing and leading a group a people can come in all shapes and sizes, environments, scenarios, and age groups, including video games. Some of the best guild and clan leaders I've ever known don't "lead professionally", yet they absolutely had what it takes to 'lead'. And while I'm completely aware that my anecdotal evidence means next to nothing, it doesn't take much for any sane reasonable person to know how true to assertion is; anyone can be a leader, regardless of experience or credentials. It's such a simple fact it makes arguing about it seem futile and pointless.
Why you're hung up on semantics, I can't be sure, but it sounds like you like to hold the word 'leader' in a high status that only ends in these arguments with people splitting hairs over the "true meaning of leader".
Your patronizing world view makes me glad to not know or interact with you in real life.
Brink trailer launches a revolution
May 9th 2011 5:12PM (Joystiq)No one is more excited for this game than me.
With that said, I think if you're looking for a story, you'll likely be disappointed. ET, sadly, has never been about a story (or a terribly involving one, anyway). Fantastic to play, but the gameplay has to be your motivation. Not the story.
With that said, this trailer depicted more of a story than I ever expected... but I'm afraid the story goes as deep as what you saw in this trailer.
Of course, I'd be THRILLED to be proven wrong.

May 9th 2011 5:05PM (Joystiq)Bahhh. Broken reply. Downvote.
Brink trailer launches a revolution
May 9th 2011 5:05PM (Joystiq)To go along with my prior comment-
I'll also add that while I did play COD4 and CODMW quite a bit with my friends on X360 (until both communities fell to the JBODers and cheaters), I never considered myself a part of their community. I didn't (in ANY form) participate in the common douchbaggeries found there, and when they became more common than actually playing the game correctly, I promptly left.
I will always associate myself with the ET community because (at least for the first few years it was out) it was comprised of fantastic people who came to seriously play a team, objective based shooter.
While this shouldn't be a rare phenomenon, it continues to be so. I'm just hoping upon hope, that Brink will buck the trend.

Brink trailer launches a revolution
May 9th 2011 4:45PM (Joystiq)Believe it or not... some of us miss having bots in our multiplayer games.
I can agree that calling it a single player may be teeny bit of a stretch, but what you think is a con is a pro for many people.
Also, go suck a railroad spike.
Brink trailer launches a revolution
May 9th 2011 2:51PM (Joystiq)I didn't mean to imply that all BF/HALO/COD players are "Spastic, Racist, Homophobic screamers". But I THINK (ie, I don't have data to support it) it's safe to say a majority of the players of these communities (BF to a much lesser extent, I will admit) are those types of players.
Also notice I didn't include the TF community in the same category. I merely said they're less likely to leave for a similar game. Most people still playing TF play it because they love the gameplay and the community, something Brink either offers similarly or doesn't have at all yet.
No, anyone that will play an objective, attack/defend, class-based shooter correctly, without complaint or asshattery, are generally the kinds of folks I'm hoping find shelter in the Brink community.
I was speaking quite generically when I spoke of the other communities, almost in a "you know when you're the exception" kind of way.
I have faith in the gaming community that you know whether you're an ass-hat or not, and again, I was essentially not including those in my comments. (I am, however, quite aware how badly I conveyed this sentiment in my first comment. Please forgive.)
