Tactical light, other fixes in Dec. 6 Battlefield 3 PC patch
Dec 5th 2011 11:21AM (Joystiq)Readers pick best webcomic: "Real is Brown" [update 1]
Jan 25th 2007 12:57PM (Joystiq)Artistic NES up for sale
Dec 29th 2006 7:10PM (Joystiq)so where's my $20?
Joystiq asks: should Penny Arcade be in the webcomic poll?
Dec 7th 2006 12:32AM (Joystiq)is that even true?
how has this been determined?
i see a lot of people saying this is what's going on whenever PA wins but maybe once in a while i come across a post from someone who actually says that's what they did.
of course that post is referred to by 20 other people and magnified to the point that it's an accepted fact by everyone that PA is winning on name recognition alone even though an actual number of people voting for PA for that reason can't be determined.
there's people who find carlos mencia funny for some reason, that alone is proof of the subjective nature of humor. some weeks PA is the funniest thing presented to me... there are weeks when it isn't. sometimes someone else has a great joke and some of the other comics also tend to have a great concept that they blow with a clumsy presentation simply because they don't have the experience or skill that is present with PA. they usually get special consideration with my vote... if i can see what they were going for and it was funny i can forgive spelling errors, poor art or weak language skills and give them the vote. on the other end of the spectrum, anyone who recycles a joke or over used internet opinion of the moment like the "real time weapon change" or "attack it's weak spot for massive damage" crap that everyone brings up way too often gets dismissed without a thought, no matter how professionally they present it.

Dec 2nd 2006 12:36AM (Joystiq)"Seriously the mac is a complete waste of time for the average user. Its suited for certain people within industries."
the big selling point for the Mac is it's ease of use for the average user (have you seen the smug commercials?) and the fact that it is the industry standard for both the graphics and music industry.
"For every people who like to download torrents, play games and watch movies and all that, Pcs just cant be beat."
yes, windows boxes are better suited for software piracy. screw those developers who spend incredible portions of their lives developing programs that some script kiddie can "hack" by downloading from some bit torrent site.
"Linux is even way better then mac in terms of compatibility except its almost impossible for non technical people to use ( my dad can barely hold the mouse and use our pc, he would pass out if he tried to figure out how to download some pictures and view them in linux lol)."
linux is a unix (heard of unix... you know, from back in the 70's?) derivative, as is the OS X operating system... nice thing is, the OS X system is as compatible as linux but so much easier to operate for the average user due to the fact that it's running under the shell of the Mac GUI but if you're a geek you can get under the hood and mess with it.
learn to accept that which is different and have an open mind... the more operating systems, computer types, game consoles, etc... that you are willing to accept, the more toys you get to play with.
Bioshocking PS3 news
Sep 29th 2006 12:14PM (Joystiq Playstation)as sony has gotten closer to their launch microsoft has been throwing money at developers and publishers to buy up exclusivity and buy into franchises that have been sony based for years. it's all about the money and microsoft is determined to come out on top in the gaming industry.
if you look at any other product there are a wide variety of manufacturers competing for marketshare but with gaming we have only three companies trying to get a game console in your living room and exclusive games are a powerful tool in getting that done.
we're going to see a lot of exclusive and "timed exclusive" games from both microsoft and sony during this "next generation" of gaming.
i already bought my 360 and i'll be buying my ps3 when it's available because i don't plan on missing out on some great games simply because one company wants to dominate another.
Armored Core 4 not a launch title -- only two confirmed
Sep 7th 2006 11:02AM (Joystiq Playstation)the 360 sold well at launch and we have just started getting some good games for it in the past couple months... don't worry, the ps3 will sell and the wait won't be as long for good games as it has been with the 360.

Aug 31st 2006 10:14AM (Joystiq)ummm.... how are you going to do that?
let's do the math.
the 360 is $400 add $200-$250 for the Wii and you have $600-$650. there you are, you've matched or exceeded the price of a ps3 and you haven't bought a single game.
you either need to work on your math skills or tell me where you're getting all these free games galore.

and for the heck of it, everyone keeps saying it's huge but compare it to the 360 and it's only about 2cm larger in each direction.
