Questioning the fate of 25 mans in Wrath

May 10th 2008 4:44PM (WoW)
I really don't see this as possible. 10man instances are very confining and lose their sense of epicness. I just don't see how fights like Vashj, Kael, Archimonde, or Illidan Could be scaled down to 10 people. The pure sense of how epic these fights are is what makes them so fun to me!

I remember the first time doing Vashj and Kael the first time. It would mind-numbingly awesome. You had to make macros to throw the core on vashj and tell who was throwing it. Melee had to kill the nagas and prevent the ele's from getting to Vashj, hunters had to shoot the bats, a shammy had to kite the striders, range had to kill the ele's. It was just.... AWESOME! There was sooooo much going on and I just can't imagine a 10 man version of these fights as being fun.

Think of it this way, how lame is prince? You pretty much tank and spank him, except casters have to move around a bit. But imagine if Prince was a 25 man raid, where they could have soooo much more going on. What if princes weps in phase 2(I think?) could be looted and contained legendary weps just like in Kael? Or where the infernals moved faster and the caster group would have to weave around their movement to avoid dying. What if locks had to enslave the infernals and make them do something in order to kill prince? See, the fihgt could be sooo much cooler and soooo much more fun if it had 25 people, but instead it has 10 and is confined to low numbers.

About the only 25man fights I can see being turned into 10 mans without losing any fun is Leo, Gruul, and Rage Winterhoof. Theyre pretty much tank and spank, just like the rest of the 10 man bosses.

And stop with this 'kara is hard' bullcrap. No its not, any retard in blues can do fine in kara. Hell, pugs in my server are killing Gruul. If you can't get out of kara, you're an idiot, because guess what? Kara was the idiot check of TBC! If you can't get passed kara, you don't belong in 25 mans. The rest of your raid would just be carrying you. Sorry if that sounds elitest, but its the truth.

The epic raid AFK

Apr 26th 2008 8:46PM (WoW)
I've got two pretty epic stories. The first one was like any other normal night farming SSC, we wiped on FL and one of our tanks was giving his apology for not picking up the huntards pet when we here a loud bang over vent. He dc'ed seconds later and we didn't hear back from him for two days. His neighbor's house was a methlab and it blew up the power lines. :O

Another epic afk happened to use after our first 1% wipe on vashj. Our paladin leader says 'AFK for a second, some guy is bugging my wife at the front door.' 10 minutes pass and his wife gets on vent and says 'sorry he wont be back tonight'. The next day we find out that some guy stole a car, crashed it in his yard, and wanted a ride to the police station. :O

Tom Morello to appear as Guitar Hero III boss

You're an idiot. First, RATM isn't 'anarchist bullshit', its music full of class conciousness and has bold socialist lyrics. Second, RATM doesnt attack white people, they attack the 'machine' or capitalism. The vast majority of the capitalist class just happens to be white males, so its gonna seem that way. If youre a worker, theyre singing for you. Third, they DO have songs for all races and sexes (Maria, Freedom, and others come to mind).

Oh and by the way, just because you have next to no class conciousness doesn't mean all those 'stoned, young, and dumb individuals' (as you so fondly put it, because youve met the entire fan base evidently) don't have class conciousness either.

Fear and how to fix it

Aug 24th 2007 12:09AM (WoW)
I have an idea as how to keep fear the same, yet fun for the person being feared. What if all your buttons were remapped during fear so that you could still move and attack but it would take time to figure out what keys did what, until the fear ended and everything went back to normal. It would be like real fear, youd be disoriented and confused from being afraid but if you were quick enough about your wits you could overcome the fear.

Also youd have to have the button mapping random at all times and rearange the command bar temporarily during fear so you couldnt figure it out the first time and remember it for all fear.

New York may confiscate unrated games

Mar 13th 2007 10:01PM (Joystiq)
Anybody else getting a whiff of fascism? First they will "confiscate" games, then they will ban games, and then they will burn games. Just like the Nazis did to books. One can just hope history won't repeate itself on that subject.

Blizzard exec hints at Starcraft 2, world reels

Jan 16th 2007 9:40PM (Joystiq)
MMORTS would totally work. Anyone remember battlezone's 1 & 2? You could easily scale that up and starcraft would be perfect for it. Either way though, Star Cratf 2 will be an amazing game wether an MMORTS or just a plain RTS!
