Jun 26th 2008 4:07PM (Joystiq)This is pretty much the same thing. Just think of it as a different flavor of windows. Kind of like how the Dreamcast ran Windows CE.
It's the ultimate solution to the RRoD problem, give up and let some actual hardware guys have a crack at it!
I'd probably be more likely to buy a Dell or Toshiba Xbox 360 than a Microsoft-engineered one.

Nielsen: Wii usage is second to Xbox 360
Jun 5th 2008 3:30PM (Joystiq)Maybe I just sleep too much. I have a nice job, (I'm posting to Joystiq on the clock, for instance) and only work 8 hours a day. I live close to work so I spend less than 30 minutes a day commuting, but when I come home, spend time with the wife and family, listen to how everyone's day was, help with dinner and cleaning up, pay some bills, check my email, and do the other things like that I can maybe work in 30 minutes or so of gaming at night before my body is telling me it's time for bed.
I guess that 2+ hours a day, every day seems like an awful lot. That's more than one full day at work every week! It just doesn't seem like it would leave a lot of time for other activities, that's all. I mean, I can't imagine devoting to ANY hobby.
And I'm not saying that I don't game in stretches longer than that, (I probably put in 30 hours the first weekend I had RE4) but this data says the "average" gamer does that 28 freaking days a month!
I guess maybe I am being crotchety. Still boggles my mind, though.
And NATO_Duke, are you with a firm or a sole practitioner? How long have you been practicing? I passed the bar last year but have primarily been doing SP work on the side while I keep my old job. But everyone I used to hang out with in law school is getting crushed for time. The firm/municipal lawyers I know all put in 60+ hours a week and my sole practitioner buddies are even worse with trying to establish their practices. I'm the only one of our old gaming circle that games AT ALL anymore...

Jun 5th 2008 2:51PM (Joystiq)Dear god, even when I was a wee lad with nothing to do in the summer but play video games I think my butt would be grafted to the couch putting in hours like that. And if by "average" they mean "Mean" then there are people who put way more than that in...
Well, after playing Halo3/MarioKart/Etc on-line, I guess I have no problem imagining there are plenty of people who put 4 hours a day every day into playing a video game. As much as I love video games, that just seems that you're missing out on actually living your life at that point...
You show me a 27-year old who plays 2 hours of Xbox a day, and I'll show you someone who'll make less than $9 an hour their entire life. (Game developers and joystiq bloggers exempted, of course!)
