SATA-IO cranks up Power Over eSATA initiative, not a moment too soon

Jan 15th 2008 2:09PM (Engadget)
It's about time, now eSATA can actually be considered a competitor to USB and FireWire, this should have been in there to start with. I mean you can get these ports on modern notebooks but you still have to supply power to whatever you plug in. It seems like they developed eSATA just so you didn't have to have a wire coming out of your computers motherboard and didn't consider the other possabilities of it.

Wii demand has Nintendo reconsidering its advertising plans

Dec 8th 2007 11:58AM (Engadget)
It's very difficult to get hold of a Wii where I live in the UK at the moment, If you live in a smaller town you actually have a much higher chance of being able to get one from the high street. Online is still your best chance of getting hold of one though as they can normally estimate stock levels better.

One of the main channels here in the UK seems to have DS adverts on every program and other channels have them quite frequently played. At least you can get hold of a DS, some places have no stock but you have more chance to find a DS than a Wii, it seems strange that I can sell my 1 year old console for more than I bought it for a year later.

Falcon Fragbook DRX: spendy, hefty and oh-so-fast

Jun 7th 2007 3:27PM (Engadget)
It's ideal for people who want a portable desktop, for example, people who travel a lot and like to game (ie. you have more than one home). There is no way you could easily carry around a desktop but this is like a portable desktop. It weights 5.5 KG and has a 1hr battery life so you're not going to want to take it everywhere and use it like a laptop.

You can convert your original PS1 game disks to work on the PSP if you use 3.xx OE firmware.

The WOW Starts Now. Just not on your iBook

Definatly an iBook, my Macbook has two 3.5mm audio jacks on the side which the notebook the the photo is missing.

15.4-inch MacBooks on schedule for May release?

Feb 15th 2007 9:17AM (Engadget)
I bought the Macbook because of its size, I am a student and with a protective sleeve it fits right inside the bag I normally take to Uni, which doesn't make it look like I'm carying a notebook. It's only just a little bit bigger than the size of a piece of A4 paper which makes it easy to carry around without having to carry it in it's own laptop bag.

On the back of the retail packing for 'The Urbz' for Xbox it mentions the use of the EyeToy in game. I guess they just copied the text from the PS2 packing.

The black DS Lite, in the flesh

Jun 20th 2006 7:13AM (Joystiq)
#39 - You'd only need to buy an AC adapter when you got back home which are fairly inexpensive.

I have pre-ordered the White DS:Lite from gameplay.co.uk, they said it would arrive Firday morning but the order is saying it will be here by wednesday/thursday so I could be lucky. Only bought the BrainAge (called something different here) at the moment.

This is my first nintendo console since the Gameboy Color (can't believe that I managed to use it without a backlight).

Microsoft releases Windows Vista Beta 2 to public

Jun 8th 2006 9:12PM (Engadget)
I am getting a [80070017] error during the file copy process of the install, the MD5 hash matches and the copy is fine, going to try an emulated drive and install through Windows.

If your booting from the DVD there is about a 5 minute wait on a blue screen where it looks like the computer has hung, just wait and you'll get the setup dialog eventually, tooks me a few tried before I figured out this.

Seagate announces bevy of new drives

Jun 7th 2006 5:09PM (Engadget)
I'm hoping I'll be able to get hold of the 160GB drive within a few months. I'm considering buying the cheapest Macbook and then sticking the largest hard disk I can get hold of and 2GB of RAM in it. I think the 7200.2 is definatly something to keep your eye on, it's not often you see a 7200RPM notebook and you definatly don't see them fitted in notebooks as standard.
