Swag Sunday: Lego Harry Potter (360) [update]

I know out of all the spells we've seen in the Harry Potter series, my favorite may seem kinda lame, but I think it would be the most useful out of all of em...

Repairo

I mean really, how awesome would it be to be able to fix anything w/ just a word.

God damn another calendar!?!? Woot

I've made gold status the last two years and I was hoping this year would be something better then the lame calendar. Don't get me wrong, I love Club Nintendo, the US "rewards" you can "buy" w/ your CN-points are actually pretty neat, I got my kids some really cool DS game/styli cases and they are well put together and look really great. And, of course, they don't have to do anything like this at all......

But damn those figurines are neat looking, I'd love to have that thing to display on my desk w/ all my other cool little gaming knick-knacks. But alas, twas not to be. Curse you people that made Platinum!

Preview: Civilization V

Why? What's wrong w/ GameTap, I signed up about a week ago ($10/month) and I get to play all kinds of new(ish), and tons of older "classic" games. So far I think it's great, with the exception that a lot of their games don't support a 64-bit OS yet, but they seem to be working on that.

I'm currently playing The Witcher, Splinter Cell: Conviction (w/ all the sequels after that one lined up and ready), Psychonauts, Beyond Good and Evil and a bunch more....not to mention "classics" like the entire Phantasy Star series (before it went online and turned shit), Ago of Mythology, some Shining Force and all kinds of good stuff.

Now you're going to tell me it has some kind of wicked Trojan embedded that is going to blow up my rig or something right?

@Breakdown you really need to do yourself a HUGE favor and go to D2D, Steam, or even Gametap and buy yourself some Civ IV goodness. If you enjoyed CiV II and III you are almost guaranteed to like IV, it's a lot like 3 w/ much better graphics, refined systems, new systems (a la religion, one of my favorite additions to the franchise, and something I think was pretty lame to leave out of V), and just a deeper game all around.

Even though V comes out in ~3 months, you owe it to yourself to spend these next couple months enjoying the hell out of IV while you have the chance. It's easily one of my favorite games of all time, and most definitely my favorite TBS/4x ever.

If you can't tell, I am very much looking forward to V, it can't be released soon enough IMHO

Portal 2 heading to PlayStation 3 with Steam Cloud support

Jun 15th 2010 9:38PM (Joystiq)
@st3v3n Guys...the "surprise" here is two fold, Valve is putting Steamworks on the PS3, which means Sony is opening up their platform...at least a little bit. Part of the reason Valve didn't support the 360 or PS3 version of the Orange Box was, basically, b/c neither would permit them to give away the updates for free like Valve wanted to. It would basically undermine the entire premise of Xbox-live, and to a lesser degree PSN, and some of the price-gouging that goes on there. This seems to change all that though. From what I am taking from this, w/ Steamworks being implemented on the PS3, Valve will be able to feed updates to their games on their own, and support their games more in the way they want to. THAT IS HUGE for the PS3, or any console, and really puts MS in a bad place, if of course, what I am reading between the lines is what's going to happen.

Yes, Gabe has repeatedly said he disliked the PS3 b/c he didn't care for the dev kit and thought it overly complicated and wasn't seeing the results he thought he should basically. And therein lies the "triumph" for Sony, he basically apologized and said that Sony has busted their ass and made things better. And that, combined w/ opening up their platform a bit more, makes up for it in spades.

It really is big for PS3 owners, I'd be psyched if I owned one and didn't have access to a fast computer to play these games on.

Stardock explains Elemental's basic elements on video

Yeah, I've been following this for awhile and can't wait til it's finally released.

It looks to be a mix of the best parts of Civ4 + HoMM + Total War, and if it even comes close to living up to the potential inherent in such a mix, it's going to be keeping me up very late w/ the not so dreaded "one more turn syndrome".

Lets just hope it isn't....don't want to jinx it. Lets just say I hope beta-2 goes smoothly so I have this game in my hands asap.

Joyswag: Alpha Protocol-themed 8GB iPod Touches [update]

And, once again, I think that spies would most likely be listening to the "Mission Impossible" theme on their i-pods while doing their spy stuff.

Them spies are probably still playing the "mission impossible" theme song while doing their spying stuff.
