May 24th 2008 2:03AM (Joystiq)Honestly, though, the Mako needs to be reworked. It should feel like the Hot Rod from half-life 2: episode 2, and look like a combination of the Moon Lander's buggy, an Monster Truck and a Muscle car.
In addition, I think they need to pull in a small team from another studio that have done vehicle games before. Perhaps borrow a couple people from Criterion.

Nov 5th 2006 8:40PM (Joystiq)Let me point this out to everyone who decides to bid on one, though: Remember the defects that plagued the first generation 360's? With so few PS3's on the market this season, and with Sony's problems with manufacturing recently, isn't it very likely that Sony's first year models may have some of the same bugs? Is it really worth it to go out and spend $600-$700 (Or $1150) on something that doesn't deliver the goods? It might be a good idea just to wait until spring, or wait for one entire year. By then, there will be a nice little line-up of games waiting for you.
Engadget's Cleaning Out Our Closet Contest
Aug 16th 2006 9:45PM (Engadget)I've been interested in animation ever since I can remember, and the era or Digital Animation has only stirred that passion even more. It's not necessarily even the fact that they are 3d, but the rendered textures make such films as The Incredibles, as well as the Visual Effects of Peter Jackson's King Kong. I am convinced that with the study of real life textures, in spite of or because of Low resolution, I can become part of that industry. The only problem: as an Apple addict since childhood (I was hooked by my father), and in recognition of my need for a professional grade computer, I've broken my wallet buying a computer that would serve me during my college years in my quest to develop the industry: a Macbook Pro.
For the past couple of years, at each event that I could get a gift here or there, I've been opting for money instead, hoping to one day accumulate enough money to purchase, at the time, an Apple Powerbook. This continued through my high school reunion an this years birthday. I finally had enough money. I decided to wait until the end of Apple's WWDC 2006 to see if they made any changes to the true object of my desire, the Macbook Pro. Sadly, they didn't, but that didn't stop my passion for a Quality Apple "Laptop" (I don't care if I can't use it on my lap. I'm calling it a laptop). Now, after two and one half years of saving and budgeting, I finally have a Macbook Pro on the way. The problem is that although I have taken photography classes for the past two years, I have no access to a camera on a regular basis. I need something that I can have on the go, and be able to take pictures on the spur of the moment. I think that the JB1 might just be the perfect camera for that kind of use. Remember, if I don't get that camera, you might potentially be crippling the future potential of the animation industry. Can you truly live with that burden on your hearts? I don't think so. That's why you need to vote for a candidate that you can trust such a camera to. Someone who won't abuse except when necesary. Someone like me.
Paid for by by Friends of Matt Carstensen for the winner of the JB1.
