Kinect's first purchasers talk about camping out, system's potential

@Hawaii Jeff

That's because Sony had quality to release.

First Fallout: New Vegas DLC 'exclusive' to Xbox 360

Oct 18th 2010 8:11PM (Joystiq)
@direfulburden:
Seeing that I pre-ordered it for my PS3 anyway, I'll do what I did concerning F3: buy on day one, play it to my heart's content, then trade it in at Gamestop for the GOTY edition as soon as that comes out.

As far as Microsoft's dirty tactics are concerned, I always wondered why this practice is never called by its real world name, namely a bribe, pure and simple. And why this practice is not outlawed as anti-competitive misbehavior under US law.

Message to Microsoft: see, this is why people love your company as much as they do... :-/ ... not!

Gran Turismo 5's Yamauchi: 'We could release it any time we want'

Oct 14th 2009 9:40AM (Joystiq)
@Crayfish: Maybe the game itself is 100% finished (minus some polish here and there), all the remaining work is being consumed by modelling and fine tuning the car line-up, and so releasing it now vs. waiting for another six months would come down to the difference between releasing a game with 500 cars (meaning more to come as DLC later on) and releasing it with 900 cars right from the start?

Final Fantasy Versus XIII remains a PS3 exclusive

I'm still waiting for the promised shocking announcement. Or did SE think this news was it?

Final Fantasy XIII confirmed for a 2009 Japanese release

Aug 2nd 2008 8:01AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Uh, good thing that I understand some Japanese then. I just hope there's not gonna be a region lock for the Japanese version.

John Carmack says Blu-ray offers better graphics

Aug 1st 2008 3:35PM (Joystiq Playstation)
What's so gifted about Carmack, as you say? id are releasing nothing but the same generic shooter all those years (Rage doesn't seem to be any different), and if he thinks the PS3 architecture is actually inferior (obviously because he can't get his developers up to the task), he is just another Gabe Newell, some developer that's feeding from the past.

Yoda as DLC for Soulcalibur IV, says Korean PlayStation site

Jul 28th 2008 7:47PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Bah, lame. I'm rooting for Raiden _and_ Vamp, but of course not on 360.

Shocking announcement at DKS3713 from Square Enix

Eggs are now all over my computer, thanks to you. Don't make me

WipEout HD due 'before the end of the year'

Jul 17th 2008 8:44PM (Joystiq Playstation)
That's right, there will always have to be compromises to be made when it comes to balancing polygon count, frame rate, textures, and overall speed, and almost every game has to go through this.
But what if the developers are facing, say, endless and unstoppable tearing issues because of the constant twists and turns at high speeds? Tearing seems to be a problem only if the whole scenery is moving, e.g. during camera sweeps, and in a game of Wipeout, the cam is sweeping all the time. Basically, what they would need to do, is to develop another engine altogether, or license and adopt something that's on the market.

Just my 2 cents.
