Breakfast Topic: Is your main a former alt?

Oct 27th 2010 12:07PM (WoW)
I created my original character, a tauren hunter in 2005, a few months after the release of the game. She was my main throughout vanilla and most of BC. I got into a great guild who I've been with ever since the beginning of BC, but near the end with Kara and ZA, they were short on healers. My shaman alt was needed. He became my "raid main" for the rest of BC.

At the beginning of Wrath, we had balanced out better and I was asked who I wanted to be my main. I said "my hunter, of course" and she was again my main, through Naxx and Ulduar. Then we lost most of our tanks to burnout and other raid guilds or other servers. We had plenty of healers this time, but couldn't raid without more tanks. My druid alt was needed. She is now in full 10.5 level gear and has downed LK multiple times. My hunter is semi-retired in her tier 9 gear, all alone. :(

Breakfast Topic: Are there atheists in Azeroth?

Aug 31st 2010 2:53AM (WoW)
Wolfkin: I'm not sure where you came up with your ideas on atheism, but they are completely wrong. Atheism is not a lack of belief. Atheists believe in a lot of things. They believe in love, they believe in happiness, they believe in moral obligation, etc. By definition, belief is a conviction or opinion. It is "confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof." (according to the dictionary) The definition of Atheism is a lack of belief in the existence of deities.

An Atheist can NOT say "god may exist" because if they do, they are no longer an atheist.

I'm confused as to your saying that not believing in a god is a "generalization" when the definition is quite clear, no matter where you look or who you ask. Every single atheist that I've ever met understands that being an Atheist means not believing in deities. And when asked "well, what DO you believe in?" they have many answers.

I'm very curious as to where you came up with your ideas on Atheism being "not believing in belief." and not "not believing an a god" when 100% of the information out there contradicts this. Then again, I'm most likely not coming back to this thread, so I guess I'm not THAT curious. ;)

Breakfast Topic: Holiday boss in the dungeon finder is the best thing ever

Jun 22nd 2010 11:11AM (WoW)
My favorite part of the event is going in, and the tank says "lol ive never seen this b4. wut iz it?" or the people who have no idea what to do. I was especially fond of the group where none of the DPS knew what to do, so when the core dropped, they just stood there doing nothing.

A significant number of people I pugged with said "wut is this I just saw it in dungon findr."

"and if you haven't used Firefox Sync yet, what're you waiting for?!"

I'm waiting for it to be better than XMarks. You know, the sync that works with ALL browsers across ALL platforms. Yeah. that one. ;)

Breakfast Topic: When your alt becomes your main

Jun 19th 2010 12:39PM (WoW)
I've switched mains twice. I played a hunter for all of vanilla, and most of BC, though in BC I levelled a Shaman I managed to keep the gear level on my hunter and Shaman about even, so if I was called for DPS I would go with my hunter, and if called for heals it would be my Shaman. Near the end of BC, i was needed for heals mostly so my Shaman became my new "main."

In WotLK I was determined to play my first character, my hunter as my main and so I did. At the same time, for kicks, I levelled a druid. When my druid became level 80, I discovered that I really, really liked bear tanking. More than hunter DPS. My hunter is now semi-retired in Tier 9, while my Druid is my main now, progression tanking ICC and with the best gear of my various alts. She'll probably continue to be my main into Cata.

Yeah, Those cards are really nice. But you can't just buy them alone. I have to spend at least $20. Hrm. So I have to buy something else I don't want, or I have to buy multiple decks. Well, okay. I guess. Okay, so I have a collectors set and an extra deck for a friend. 25 bucks. huh. Well, whatever. Let's check out. Oh, the cheapest shipping is over ten bucks. so to get two decks of cards, two dice and a piece of soap (that I don't even want) it will cost me almost 40 bucks.

Uh.... no.

A Break With Tradition -- 'I Chose Not to Have My Dad Give Me Away'

Nice story. My wife and I made it even easier. Neither one of us believe in some magical bearded wizard who lives in the sky, just as we don't believe in the tooth fairy, so we didn't have to go to the magical sky-man temple. After five years of living together and having plenty of pre-marital sex, we figured we needed a tax break so we just went down to the courthouse, signed a piece of paper, and poof! done and married. We even got to keep our last names. Still together, thinking about having kids when we're in our late 30's or early 40's. And we're happy as could possibly be. We never fight, and love each other deeply. I'm just sorry the author had to spend any money at all. 75 bucks, honey. That's all it takes to sign that paper!

Breakfast Topic: Fun with jerks

Jan 30th 2010 12:32PM (WoW)
You were justified, of course. Though I will say your story is almost tame compared to the experience I've had in general. Basically I've come to the conclusion that in general, 90% of the tanks in this game are complete f*ckwads. I play both DPS and Healer and tanks, since they don't have to wait for pops, run the show. They know they can do anything they damn well please, because if people don't like it, he can drop, find another group almost immediately and the rest of us will be sitting around for 20 minutes waiting for a new tank.

Between tanks who bitch at the healers (as in your example) or the DPS ("hey, how about doing some damage?"), telling people how to play THEIR classes instead of just playing their own, pulling huge amounts of mobs when healers are OOM or out of range, and generally just being massive dicks. Sometimes I think the game would be more fun if there were a targeting dummy we could just drop, have the boss beat on it while the rest of the group kills the boss.
