Gamestop shenanigans sell open games as 'new'

Mar 26th 2007 7:06AM (Joystiq)
Oh yeah I just thought I'd add. GAME in the UK now have a little security sticker that they add to all unsealed games.

You inspect the goods, if you're happy they carefully place it in the box and put a security sticker on it.

Soon as the sticker is removed you can only get a refund if the item is faulty, you can get an exchange within 10 days (if I'm not mistaken) and after than you have to accept their trade in value.

I don't really care that much.

As long as you can inspect the disc and manual beforehand (which I do with all unsealed games) then there is no problem.

You're getting pissy over nothing. Just buy online if you're that much of a pedant.

'This is Living' toilet girl helps flush PAL PS3 sales

I am European, the adverts are smart- I like them.

Sony adverts in Europe have always been entertaining. The reason it isn't selling is because Sony is shipping tons over here. They don't need the bad press of £700 consoles and eBay touters.

They need to get the install base up before they start haemoraging money. The adverts were good.. money well spent I'd say. Man has always disputed things he didn't understand.

I'm not buying a system because it costs £425, not because the adverts didn't work. That is not SCEE's problem.

How do you manage your "to-play" list?

Jan 2nd 2007 4:57PM (Joystiq)
I'll take a year out of gaming, come back- have a long list of games worthy of my monies I play them, I feel no pressure to buy sub par games because my choice is not restricted in game droughts and I save a few bob.
Highly rewarding.

I wish i had a life to put in iCal. (see pict0r)

Game Boy Advance at the lowest point on earth

Inferior videogame system.
Did you know the PS3 also doubles as a one man/woman jet pack? It's the only way to travel.

I also echo the sentiments of the first commenter.

'Alpha Moms' influence lesser moms into buying Wii

Dec 26th 2006 5:05PM (Joystiq)
I knew this would happen all along- because the DS isn't as mobile Nintendo needs to kick start it in certain demographics.

It's the only way to get them to try it- and then perhaps buy it. DS was a success because the day I got it- about 30 other people played on it before the battery died.

Wii doesn't need demo kiosks- just set a spark off in a few houses in each town, people come around to socialise (friends family) they try it and it's self propagating.

It works best with the adverts and as noted above, actually having units on the shelves.
I have had family around- I've not been enthusiastic to show them it but they instantlly spotted it "oh you have a Wii, we saw the adverts" and now they're buying one when they can.

I don't think it will be sold out until March- late January at the latest- and you fail to consider that these normal people are the ones buying the console anyway, hardcore gamers have units by now.

Christmas sees first VC price increase

Dec 25th 2006 12:30PM (Joystiq)
I don't think we should be paying a premium for other consoles to be hosted on our freaking console. I am happy for Wii to be inclusive but I'm not paying that much when there are emulator options available.

But I'm not gonna pay that much- I think 800 is too much for a SNES game, the only games I see as value for money are N64 games really.

I might be a bit of a cheapskate but I was genuinely hoping for $2 NES, $4 SNES and $6 N64 titles with other consoles following suit for their corresponding generation.
At these prices I don't consider them impulse purchases- I have to look online to see if the PAL version is optimised and check out a review.
It should be priced so I don't have to worry if it stinks.
