Game Developer Research lists 'Top 50 Developers' of 2009

uh,

"This is a detailed supplement to this month's Top 50 Developers countdown in Game Developer magazine, which saw over 600 industry professionals from Game Developer magazine and Gamasutra.com surveyed regarding their opinions on more than 150 developers, as well as allowing them to rate any relevant experiences with working with the companies in question"

As you can see, games release do influence the results, but they are not solemnly based on them, hence why I find it shocking for Naughty Dog to not even be mentioned.

What the hell, Naughty Dog was 27th last year, and this year they aren't even mentioned?....

Crackdown 2 situation one of those 'awkward moments' for Realtime creative director

Jun 17th 2009 12:52PM (Joystiq)
But Mr. LaughingTarget, I could have sworn that they have only worked on APB and Crackdown, why would you say that they don't want to be bothered doing "new" things? I mean, the fact that a game is a sequel it doesn't mean that it can't be "fresh" or great for that matter.

Games Critics Awards pick Best of E3 nominees

Well, it is indeed ahead of all of them except for Brutal Legend, alphabetically that is... :P

Anyway, did you really find it worthy of being Game of the Show? Hell, if anything, the new Metroid title should have been mentioned.

Metal Gear Solid Rising getting re-done graphics engine

The problem is that, well, they won't really get a "lot of profit", most of the MGS fans HAVE already bought the game

Sales Numbers:
MGS1 - 5.59 mil
MGS3 - 3.94 mil
MGS4 - 4.04 mil

so the amount of previous MGS gamers being potential 360 buyers is considerably less.

Not only that, but a hell of a long time has passed, so you need to advertise the game once again.

Then there is changing/modifying in-game scenes/action that include other products, such as the DualShock controller, the Sony Ericsson mobile, the iPod, Blu-Ray mention, and so on.

On top of that, you have to work around the controls, the game takes advantage of the pressure sensitive feature of the DS controller, something that the 360's controller doesn't have (funny because the old Xbox controller did have it)

So yah, likeliness of MGS4 being ported? if just for profits, from and educated standpoint of view, VERY low, but Microsoft could pay for it, not for profit as it seems unlikely, but just to kick Sony on the balls.

Tretton says PS3 motion controller can work with existing games

Well, the difference is that his comment does have some merit, although they aren't really use the same technology, both product offered gesture recognition.

Yours in the other hand was just grasping at straws man....

But Sony HAS been working on this technology for years...

The only difference between this tech display and the previous ones is that this time is that the controller works much better, with no apparent lag

If you are going to point fingers and made such blatant statements, at the very least look up your information, otherwise it makes you look like an idiot

huh? I beg to bring up the question, how is the EyeToy a knock off of the Virtual Boy?

The Virtual Boy was basically just a pair of glasses that displayed 3D graphics, it had zero gesture recognition....

Reggie: Metroid Other M is a 'more traditional' Metroid game

Mr Khan,

I find it unlikely for anyone to bring in Team Ninja just for their technical talent, specially when they are most famous for their focus on battle mechanics.

I know that Sakamoto is in charge, but I really doubt it that he is keeping Team Ninja under leash.
