Editor explains retracted NWN2 review

Nov 8th 2006 5:36AM (Joystiq)
I have to agree with kpluck. I am also a reviewer and I've been writing for seven years now and, of course, during all this time, there were some articles pretty much like this one. They still stand firmly on their websites for everyone to see them. It's not bad to make mistakes, it's just hard to accept them and pulling the review proved they can't do it. If you had the cojones to post it, you must have the cojones needed to keep it. That's how you learn. I haven't read it, so I can't tell if the review was flawed or not, but this shows me that 1UP doesn't have experienced people who should decide if a review is posted or not.

"They've been pivotal in the gaming community since 1996"

hahahaha.......a bit of research will do you good...lets see....March 11, 2005, a quote from the official press release from Joystick Junkies (handling PR for them):

"Did That Grenade Mess Up My Hair?

PMS Clan, the world's largest community of girl gamers, launches their first official pro-tournament season this weekend at MLG Houston in Texas, USA.

Counting over 150 girls across the USA and Europe, PMS community has grown fast since its launch at the beginning of XBOX LIVE. With the addition of a large PS2 team and brand new PC division in 2004, they are now the first and largest multi-platform female gaming clan."

1996? Xbox live launch took place on 15 november 2002 if i remember correctly, so do not throw numbers at us without knowing the hard facts. if they've been together from 1996, no problem, but they were unknown. in either case, saying their contribution was "pivotal" to the gaming community is just lame. don't get me wrong. i have nothing against any clan. i don't care about it since i don't own an xbox, but, i'm good with facts and news and it's just killing me when i see someone spreading lies to everyone else out there. just my 2c!
